I own a wine and craft beer shop in Maryville WA. I have a customer who regularly buys the Flyers Pacemaker Porter. My distributor tells me they are no longer using a distributor etc....

I am looking for a replacement for them. Here is the decription of the Flyers:

"A Robust Porter in style, this dark, full bodied ale has notes of roasted barley, coffee and bitter sweet chocolate. 5.5 abv"

I am looking for something that is available year round...help anyone?

Black Butte is a good bet. If youíre looking for something more local for your shop that also comes in a reasonably-priced bomber that wonít also be at all the grocery stores, Snoqualmie Steam Train Porter is an excellent choice as well ( http://www.ratebeer.com/beer/snoqualmie-falls-steam-train-porter/1349/).

Maybe send him up to Bellingham to snag some growlers of Chuckanut Robust Porter. The head brewer, Will, makes some clean beers and is a good guy to support. Plus, itís increasingly difficult to find traditional, well-balanced porters without any bells or whistles, so directing him to Bellingham or to some area Chuckanut vendors might prove well worthwhile. Too bad they donít bottle the porter, which would make things easier, but maybe he would like their Dunkel Lager, which apparently they recently started bottling.

Cheers.

When giving regional suggestions, I highly recommend using this site. Lots of beers mentioned so far arenít distributed to WA.

For one that is, and is commonly available, Anchor Porter is a great choice.
