Just received a Limited edition box of Westvleteren 12

This was the 6 beer box with the grey brick pattern on the box. Included are two glasses which hold 200 ml. Each bottle contains 330 ml. Why are the glasses so small. They seem to be the legit size, at least when viewing minute 7 of this St Bernardus 12 video. In this video, the St Bernardus sales rep explains why the glasses are so small, but does so in German. Can anyone explain why?

He says it’s something you see more and more in gastronomie, it’s so you can share the bottle.

Westie or St. Bernardus?

The smaller goblets are very nice for a sharing situation. Plus they take up less shelf space.

I have westy 12, but since the two are similar, at least according the the video anyways, I figured their glasses would be similar in size. Another question. I have a case of 3 month old westy 12 plus a so pack of the 3 year old special edition. They are both in the crawl space of my basement, which is dry with low humidity and ranges in temp from 68 degrees in mid summer to 60 degrees in mid winter.

Since the bottles are now all at 68 degrees right now, should I refrigerate before drinking my first bottle tonight or drink at the 68 degrees?

Serve it in a better glass that you can actually smell the beer out of, anyway. Those wide-mouthed glasses are fun to look at, but they suck for nosing a beer.

You could chill to 55 degrees but don’t get it fridge cold.

Agreed with Ernest, should use a glass that gives you head space and you can swirl
