Meaning, which beer did you have the highest expectations going into but ultimately failed to live up to your preconceived notions? |
A big disappointment was the Harvieston Ola Dubh bottles I’ve had, which I thought I’d love, but found were filtered and pasteurised senseless. |
Lost Abbey The Angels Share (flat diaper juice) |
Struise Pannepot (Thinking the vintage I drank...2007...was past it’s prime...would try again) |
Chocolate Rain. |
I don’t know if it’s my biggest letdown, but 3 Fonteinen Intense Red was one that I had high expectations for that weren’t met. Don’t get me wrong; it was solid, but I prefer my lambics with higher carbonation. I prefer the Oude Kriek (and it’s significantly cheaper). |
Dark Lord, sorry, too one-dimensional, all sugar and sweet. Had the 2013-version. |

Rue d Floyd (FFF release). No idea why all the hype. Tastes like cherry cough syrup to me. |
Originally posted by RABinCO This. It WAS a 2012. Still happy to try other versions. |
Yeah, I also nominate chocolate rain as one that didn’t impress me as much as I thought it would. |
