Taking a road trip to watch some football. Starting in Minneapolis (where I live) and driving to Lincoln, NE. Leaving on a Friday, returning on a Sunday. Hoping to stop once each way for some food/beer, also looking for some good places in Lincoln.
Planning to take 35 down that way. I did Des Moines last year, loved some places (El Bait Shop, Zombie Burger) but wondering what else is on the way for us? I am with a group that is willing to stop for breweries but its not a beer trip. One of the people coming doesn’t drink beer (though I bet I could get her to DD...) so if there is a cider place that’d be chill.
HELP!

In Lincoln: Yia Yia’s pizza. Pretty solid pizza and the best selection in town for beer. http://yiayiaspizza.com/ Lazlo’s (10 min walk from the stadium) Home of Empyrean. Decent food and decent beer. Lots of great dining options in the new Railyard area by Pinnacle Bank Arena. Leadbelly’s and Buzzard Billy’s are usually my go to eateries on gamedays. Single Barrel is also good (great Whiskey selection too). A lot of people will recommend Misty’s but in my opinion it’s the highest priced average steakhouse in the state. The grilled wings at Watering Hole are great too. As far as bottle shops go, nothing beats the Still in Lincoln, but it’s way on the south side of town. Beertopia in Omaha is the best stop if you are planning to hit up a bottle shop, assuming you will be tailgating. As far as breweries in Lincoln, I would go to Zipline, Empyrean (Lazlo’s) in that order and skip Blue Blood at all costs. Or in Omaha, Nebraska Brewing or Upstream are good options and Lucky Bucket too.

If you forget to exit I-35 and wind up in Austin, please let me know.

Husker tan has you taken care of here. Let me know if you are going to spend some time in Omaha.

This sounds like a horrible, horrible plan.

I’m missing Lincoln now. I second the advice on Lazlo’s (beer cheese soup...do it) and Runza. Have a good time!

Thanks HuskerTan and others. Looking forward to a road trip and some new breweries. Actually, this will be my first time in Nebraska.

If you didn’t stop at Exile Brewing Co in Des Moines last time, I think it’s definitely worth a visit for good german style beers. Pretty good advice from others on places in Nebraska, but I would add that Nebraska Brewing Co is hands down the best brewery in Nebraska and worth a stop while traveling through Omaha.
