Some clarifications:
• 56 Brewing already is open as a brewery and does on-site growler sales but hopes to open its taproom in September.
• Bad Weather currently is brewing at Lucid’s Minnetonka brewery but will be opening its own brewery and taproom in St. Paul.
• Barley John’s operates a long-running brewpub in New Brighton, Minnesota but will be opening an additional production facility and taproom in New Richmond, Wisconsin in order to be able to engage in external distribution.
• Dave’s BrewFarm is for sale and unfortunately could close at any time.
• Lake Monster currently is a client brewer at Sand Creek but will be opening its own brewery and taproom in St. Paul.
• The distinction between “brewpub” and “taproom” isn’t clear in Wisconsin. I have the new Lucette WoodFire Eatery in Menomonie classified as a taproom, but I could have classified it as a brewpub.
• Lupine is brewing now at its taproom-free St. Cloud facility, but its new, larger brewery with taproom in Delano should open within weeks. Last I heard, Lupine plans to brew out of both locations indefinitely.
• Inbound BrewCo will be the name of Lucid’s taproom in the Minneapolis Warehouse District. It will be wholly owned by Lucid (which also has purchased the American Sky brand out of Hudson, Wisconsin). Inbound-branded beers will be available only in the taproom, although it appears that some of the Inbound-branded beers will be brewed at Lucid’s Minnetonka brewery. The Lucid brand will continue for distributed beers. Lucid has moved most or all of the brewing equipment from American Sky to the Inbound brewery, but the American Sky “taproom” will continue to sell American Sky-brand beer that is now being brewed at Lucid’s Minnetonka facility. That’s my best understanding, anyway. Lucid travels to the beat of a different drum in business matters.
• Minnesota Harvest Orchard is known for cider and apple wine, but it has produced hybrid styles such as graff. I’d be surprised if it doesn’t operate on a winery license. Its "taproom" opens for the season on 8-23-15.
• moto-i brews only sake, not Western-style “beer” (I consider sake to be beer, but that’s a discussion for another day). I believe it operates on a winery license.
• Opinion, Valhalla, and Schwietz are open as bars/restaurants but not yet serving house-brewed beers.
• Schram produces beer, wine, and mead. It operates on a winery license.
• Sociable produces beer and graff (beer/cider hybrid) but no true cider.
• St. Croix currently is a client brewer at Sand Creek but will be opening its own brewery and taproom in Stillwater.
• I know of no plans for Urban Forage to brew beer, but I’m keeping an eye on it in case it does (or, more plausibly, it brews a hybrid beverage such as a graff).
• Some to many of the long-term plans are dormant or dead, but I don’t necessarily know which ones, and I’ve seen zombie plans rise up in the past.

Lupine’s taproom in Delano opened to the public yesterday. It’s open from 1 to 5 p.m. today as well, and it will be doing growler sales today but will not (yet) refill non-Lupine growlers. Going forward, it will be open Wednesdays through Saturdays and possibly some Sundays. I believe that Lupine is located just blocks from South Fork Brewing. |
Steel Toe’s new and improved, larger taproom opens today. It’s on the same St. Louis Park site as the previous taproom. |
