I have four sons who are slowly realising that real ale and craft have a place in their lives. Any suggestions of ales to have in for Christmas to move them towards CAMRA membership? I tend to have dark winter ales in but welcome other suggestions. |

St Bernardus Christmas definitely. Sammichlaus, 14% Austrian beer - not strictly an ale, actually a dark lager - brewed on the 6th December every year. Struise Tsjeeses also very good, altho this year’s doesn’t taste anywhere near 10%. |

When it’s on form De Dolle Stille Nacht is a cracker, otherwise I will echo the thoughts of others here. |
St. Austell Big Job - bone dry to deep clean the palate amidst all the rich food you’ll probably be having. I love this beer. |
Beermerchants.com do Christmas mixed cases of Belgian beers which are really pretty good. |
Belgian themed Christmas beers can be outstanding. UK themed Christmas beers are generally shit. |
Originally posted by SarkyNorthener Yes I tend to agree with you, but it is worth mentioning that there have been some notable exceptions over the years which have been pretty good generally for e.g. Bristol Beer Factory used to do the 12 stouts of Christmas (they might still these I don’t know for sure) and these were pretty decent with different Impy Stouts usually, racking my brains to think of others though. |
