Toronto’s Bar Volo is closing...

they’re working on another location, so hopefully this is just a gap. which is good, because it’s a Top 100 (former Top 50) place that I haven’t rated yet.

Sad news indeed. Supped my first pint there in August 2004, and it quickly became my local. Met and made a lot of friends, regularly took over the patio with the regular crowd during the warmer months, had a lot of great (and not so great) beers, went to every Cask Days session from 2005 to 2009, and shared many a laugh and tear. Would love to be there for the final countdown to closure.

I do believe that the new place out in Little Italy only has seating for around 50 people, so not much bigger than Volo, if at all?

A friend in TO sent me the sad news. My experience was pretty much a mirror of Sid’s although I started a few years earlier. I’m planning at least one trip home in the next month or so, so I’ll have to make sure I visit, not that it wasn’t going to happen anyway. I hope they surface again, but I’m hopeful for their Belgian inspired place too.
