Yeah - the dozens of us who hated it from the get-go are statistically insignificant. Or just garden variety insignificant.

Maybe it was just a bad, spur of the moment decision that helped nothing.

it’s too late to put it back the way it was, and it’s going to pretty much stay a "my top 50 sexybeer for ....?" fest for the foreseeable future.
I don’t get how this could possible be because of the minor change that was made.
I much prefer the trade forum the way it is NOW. People who use it use it, and others seek behind the scenes, or both.

I never use the front forum page. I just subscribe to the forums of interest and access them through the subscription page. So I don’t care if trade posts are on the front page or not.
I do like the [view shipping profile] link on each thread to see the posters shipping profile. I think it would also be cool to have a [compare beer lists] to bring up a page that compares your want/have list with the poster’s want/have list.
I’d like to see more FT: posts for IPA/IIPA/BW that I have not rated.
I want a watch feature that uses the shipping profiles to show me what beers have been sent to people that live in my area so I can hit them up to bring them to a tasting.
Maybe what we really need is new blood. A lot of established traders have set trading partners for different areas of the country and don’t need the forum as much to set up routine trades. A constant influx of new users will drive up the volume of routine trades in the forums.
But mostly we need those "FT: New IPA" posts.

See, I hate this kind of FT post. Especially when it’s someone with ratings in the thousands. It takes a while to go through all of them, even when categorized.

Sorry, let me clarify. What I want to see is "FT: Blue Mountain Full Nelson Pale Ale". Then when I realize it’s a new IPA I’ll get all excited on my own.

Although there are a lot of things I don’t like about BeerAdvocate, the forums over there are way more active overall, which is what I use that site for more than anything. I have also done most of my trades through BA. It seems like a much more active trade forum to me. Maybe there are a lot of trades going on behind the scenes over here, but that doesn’t help the fact that the trade forum is dead. The trade threads were taken off the front page before I got started trading so at the time, I liked the decision, but now I wish it was back to the way it was before and that the homebrew threads were hidden. Or at least tagged with a yellow icon like the "Local" threads are.

I really value the fact that this trade forum is not as congested as BAs. It seems that whenever I put an iso up I get replies, even for rare beers and I like not having to sift through 50 "ISO: Darkness FT: Fat Tire" posts like I would have to on the other site. I think the main reason people don’t make as many posts is because more work goes on behind the scenes in this site. Anyway, I just wanted to jump in and say keep up the good work, I will never go back to the other site for trading unless I absolutely have to and I think this forum is working well.

Agreed. Come to think of it, all five trades that I did this week were behind the scenes, as well as one going out on Monday.
