But you WILL use the other site’s forum if you "absolutely have to", right?
"Behind the scenes" trades might help established traders but it seems to do nothing for the public community (I am not denying the value, rather simply observing the facts).
Did you meet your private traders publicly first?

If BA gets more hits on the same topics, then just trade on BA. Why all the complaining? We’re all drinking tasty beer and having a good time. At least, I am. I am with TBC, I really don’t understand why people keep saying the trading forum is not in good shape here. I understand this is a forum and we should discuss this, but is it really this big of a deal?

I feel like this shift to behind the scenes trading is due in part to the change in the forums. They are so dead that the only way to really get a trade going is privately BM someone and ask them if they want to trade.
And while behind the scenes trading is good, it is also good to hook different people up with beers and help new traders become acclimated to the trading game.

Are you saying send a private BM instead of posting a trade, or after posting a trade and getting no responses?

A lot of times I’ve traded with new folks who posted on the forums (with reasonable requests, which is becoming increasingly rare) and no subsequent posts were made.. but they got what they wanted. I’ve also had good luck with reasonable ISO posts in both the distant and more recent past.
I think the biggest problem is that most people are just asking for uber-rare stuff.

Exactly. This change doesn’t hurt established traders nearly as much as new folks.
It really doesn’t bother me anymore as I have used other options, but I will still voice my opinion that it was a bad move...for the third or fourth time.

Jake, do you have evidence to back this up? This could not be further from the truth. I just think it’s like TBC said, the community is changing and more people are gaining access to more beers so the trading threads that used to get a lot of hits may not get as many.

I am saying that with such a low traffic flow most users are abandoning even making FT or ISO threads, and have begun just sending BM’s instead to get trades worked out.
It’s a shame to me, because I liked the FT/ISO threads that seemed to get more people involved in trading.
So to clarify, in most cases, I am in favor of posting it to the forum and seeing what happens.

Sam, the only evidence I have is the users that have to continually bump their threads day after day in hopes of getting some sort of response.
Aside from that, no, I don’t have any substantial evidence. I am just trying to call it as I see it. I am not sure why I am even too worried, considering I won’t be trading for a while after finishing some up.

As mentioned above, many behind the scene trades were brought about from public trading with them in the past. I still monitor the trade forum all the time too.
