How is asking for a vote bitching or whining?

As for your argument about "forcing" home brewers to see trade threads, couldn’t the same be said of "forcing" traders to see homebrew threads? If Industry, Homebrew, and Beer Travel are all on the forum’s page, I don’t see why the Beer Trade forum should be treated any differently.

the reason being, all of the 10,000 ISO dark lord or whatever the hot beer is at the moment clog up the recent topics list. whenever something new came out, you would see a million ISO and FT threads and the other topics (which are actual topics for discussion) would be pushed down and out. the recent topics should be for the topics of discussion, not searching for trades.

people want to compare to BA. well, when i log on to BA the front page has no sign of trades in the recent forum talk. i have to click recent topics, then go to BA groups, then click to the trading forum to see anything there. what is the difference? theres more steps to do it there. if you cant click the trade forum here to look for a trade, but you can do it on BA, then i dont even know what the problem is.

AMEN,
i hate to say it kp but matt "alienates" himself sometimes by getting defensive, and taking what is said about the trade forums personally.when the majority of time,he shouldnt.

here is a fine example of that.

Do you seriously think that any decisions here are made single-handedly? You really are a biased, deluded ass if so."

now neither miketd nor myself were even talking about him,or anyone in general.we were more speaking about the way things are handled here.but to matt it was all about him for some reason.
so first off matt,if i have offended you in any way.im sorry.now if you really want to make a change here, this is my suggestion.

1.freeze this thread.
2.talk to the powers that be about setting up a vote.
3.once the votes are in,make the necessary changes,AND THEN WE WILL ALL DROP IT. thumbs up

Says who, you?

Alright, there is one vote for not on the main page.

That should not "bother" you, it should make you "proud" that the traders were able to get our own little world to ourselves while those other groups still get lumped into fray. If the homebrewers had someone fighting for them the way we have TBC fighting for us, then they too could get their own little playground like we have.

I still say we need to implement a way to subscribe to the forums we want to populate the list(including multiple metro’s)

You can always use this for now. But it can’t do premie or metros.

On a side note, I too have noticed the site being ridiculously slow lately and its only been getting worse.. is there any specific reason this is the case?(this question is directed at the admins)

You know all of those great site improvements with additional information and rating checkboxes showing up everywhere? It is not free.

im going to throw something out here as an idea....something to appease all the complainers about the trade topics being gone from the main forum page as well as not interrupt the recent topics

make a small section for new trade only topics. personally, i would rather have a small section like where the "Recently Posting" is used for "Trade Topics" and then maybe move the recently posting over to where the random photos are. this way, the recent topics arent disturbed, but weve added a small section for the newer trade topics as well.

maybe thats a happy compromise for everyone

Just a thought I’m throwing out there.. cuz the darklord/lost abbey/etc releases did also annoy me clogging up the main page(and I am very much for the trade forum populating the main page)why not have a tag for trading recently released beers that doesn’t populate the main page but populates the trade forum page? (not sure i’m phrasing this so it makes sense, but hopefully it does) It would consistent of a pop up dialogue that asked if it was a new release or not when you clicked post to the forum..(this would only show when you created a thread in the trade forum) And ones tagged with ’new release’ wouldn’t populate to the main page, but would show up in the regular trade forum when you clicked on it? And for the purpose of the tag say new release was anything released in the last 2 weeks..

Just an idea I was thinking of.. not sure if it would work or be practical, but thought I’d mention it.

yeah...says me jake.

think about it for just one second. topics to talk and discuss...thats what should be there. they should be separated from the trade "topics" which is not something up for discussion as much as just posting whether you have it or you will trade it or not...and honestly, once the trade "topic" is put up most replies are in BM form anyway.

That has been suggested, and I agree, that would be a great compromise, we will just have to see if that idea can come to fruition.
