am heading to Turkey for three weeks. Plan to take tons of good beer along to get me by. Is there anything worth checking out or trying to obtain while I am there?

BM sent. Unfortunately, I largely struck out on my trip in the land of Efes, so I’m not sure I was great help.

Food is very good, but concerning beer it is a real desert, an Efes desert.

There are still beers to find and places to explore.
Perge Pilsner
www.pergepilsner.com
Made by these guys: http://www.sural.com.tr
So I guess it might be found somewhere around there. The beer’s website lists what I think are distributors/places to get it in other cities too than Manavgat and Antalya where (two in Alanya, one in Kemer, Mersin and Ankara(!)) but without adresses so who knows what those are.
From what I understand, you won’t getter beer than the Taps stuff (the ex brewpub now a brewery). They seem to make this "Jon Bira" now that noone has rated so far. As for brewpubs there are still Balans Bräu in Istanbul and Red Tower in Alanya, all being well documented on RB

Erm I seem to have unwittingly combined "get better" into "getter" . and if I haven’t been clear, Taps obviously make a range of beers under that name that has been rated by quite a lot of people, the Jon Bira is something new.

Not really, tasted it over a year ago. I got the Perge Pilsner in a small shop near Alanya but that was really the only time I’ve seen that.

Hah figured it was newer than that as noone has added it yet...
