A little birdie passed along a rumor of an unnamed brewpub going into the space currently occupied by Kraemers True Value Hardware on Excelsior Blvd. in Minnetonka. The supposed opening time frame is spring 2017 (I’m skeptical of that date). This seems quite hush hush at the moment, and I haven’t found any publicly available information on the topic, but I do get the distinct impression that this rumor is well founded and something along these lines is in the works. More information to come, hopefully. |
It turns out that the plan for Kraemers Hardware (see above) is Unmapped, a brewery and taproom (not brewpub) that has been in planning for some time. It previously had been considering a site in Tonka Bay. |
Originally posted by Dangeruss Lowertown* Brewing Company might have found its space at 282 6th St E; that’s what’s listed on its Facebook page. That’s a happening corner just a block from CHS Field and equally close to the highly regarded bars and restaurants of, you guessed it, Lowertown St. Paul. https://www.facebook.com/Lowertown-Brewing-Company-1162486470490131 * Or "LowerTown;" I’ve seen it both ways. There’s a brewery-and-taproom-in-planning for Bethel in the north metro called Garphish Brewing Company. https://www.facebook.com/garphishbrewing/ https://abcnewspapers.com/2016/04/15/couple-to-open-brewery-taproom-in-old-bethel-city-hall/ Hat tips to Chaz for both. I spoke to someone from St. Croix Brewing Company at ABR who gave me an estimate of February for the opening of its Stillwater taproom. You know the rule: Double it. That means my estimate is July 2017. |
The grand opening for Enki’s new taproom in Victoria (at a different location from its original site) is on 10-15-16. http://www.enkibrewing.com/tap-room/grand-opening |
Roma Restaurant in Willernie, MN (next to White Bear Lake & Mahtomedi) is adding a one-barrel brewhouse. |
Originally posted by Skyview That restaurant has the same ownership as the shuttered Valhalla Nordic Smoke and Ale House, which briefly operated as a bar and restaurant in Willernie and had plans to open a brewpub component. I had assumed that the brewpub plans ended with the closing of Valhalla, but I’m pleased to see they’re giving it another go at their other operation. |
Willernie is like a ghetto compared to surrounding suburbs of Mahtomedi and White Bear Lake. So it’s hilarious that there have been multiple craft brewpubs there. One of my college friends lived close to Willernie and we used to joke about taking him to a bar called "the dugout" which was pretty much a hole in the wall. |
Originally posted by Skyview The Roma folks purchased the space formerly known as ’The Hanger Room’ which was run by the Happy Gnome people (I believe), with 70 taps. It then became Valhalla for a while (never made it over there) and now Roma. Wonder what they hope to accomplish with one-barrel.... Edit: Didn’t read Islay’s post, but, as usual, he is right on. |

Clockwerks Brewing, Facebook, 2 hours ago as of this writing: "Our doors are open, albeit softly as we work out the kinks. Stop by for a pint and say hello." Clockwerks is a brewery and taproom on the border of the North Loop and Downtown West sections of Minneapolis. |
