At least your girlfriend didn’t do this:

That is an epically long thread, what ended up happening there?

I know better than to expect feminism from a beer site, but I still sincerely hope you’re joking.

My friend, you brought this on yourself.

Women are just like dogs, if they misbehave, it’s your fault for not training them properly.

You obviously didn’t make it clear to her that your beers were exclusively your property.

Consider this a lesson in masculinity, the price of which is a bottle of your fine beer.

I have to agree. It’s not a matter of tell her it’s off-limits, it’s a fail on the part of teaching her about beer. I’ve only been with my girlfriend for 2 years and we’ve only been living together for 7 months yet she knows exactly what every single bottle in the cellar is and what’s it’s value/rarity is. She even has free reign to keep whatever beer she wants cellared too.

Or just point to it and say "NO." Women like men to be confident & assertive - not abusive control freaks, but not push-over wuss types either.

OK enough of that Dr Phil shit for today...

I agree with educating your partner about beer. But, if it’s a case where they don’t have a lot of interest in it there’s only so much you can do, other than making sure they know its value to you. I blab enough to mine about beer that I’m confident nothing will ever get drunk without consent regardless of where I put it. Same with my roommate. It’s not a matter of "training," it’s just that people know it’s important to me and aren’t douches. Though of course, mistakes can still happen.

I’d say those are good traits in general, male or female, with or without a relationship.

My wife pays attention enough to know the difference. She’d also know to ask if she were"t sure. I’m lucky though. If you’ve been together long enough She should know enough to at least care to be careful with your beer. 11/12/2009 4:36:26 PM
