Salut!

Hi nilsas. I’ll respond in English as that’s probably easier for you (and it is for me as well). Let me start by quoting myself:

Bad news: If you wont go further north or stay in a place for some time (web shop!) you are going to have a hard time even finding any good French beer. That’s just the state of craft in France.

There are no active RateBeerians in the south of France as far as I know (or at least not that are also active in the community part). There are beer-interested people, but setting up a trade will be hard (unless you come up further North in the country). I would be interested but live in Tours and work in Paris.

Lists of brewers:
http://yves.bou.pagesperso-orange.fr/brasseries/brasseries_francaises.htm
http://projet.amertume.free.fr/html/liste_brasseries.htm
http://www.saveur-biere.com/annuaire-brasserie
Note that some might be out of date. Also, most make a standard blond, blanche, brune. For more interesting styles you’ll have to compile a list of brewers upfront, I suggest. If you stay in 1 place a while you might even order beer online (a popular way in France to get craft beer outside of the main cities).

As for RateBeerians, the farthest South I know is Fux (very active beer lover, mostly on BeerAdvocate). In Marseille that is really almost nothing. The best brewers are, in my opinion, situated in the French alps (yes, really!). In fact, it is probably easier to find new country ticks (see this thread) than good, modern French beers.

However, it seems there is 1 good store in Marseille ( http://www.ratebeer.com/p/fietje-marseille/32573/) so I’d say this is by far your best start! And with the state of beer in France it wouldn’t surprise me if you’d stumble on a new gem like a new bar or brewer.

Yes, I have realised that. I am placed in an outpost and it is fare to travel to Marseille centrum. I did find some abbey double and triple, belgian strong beer and biere de garde in the local suparmaked. And was also happy to find a beer from a new country. Tomorrow I will be inside Marseille and hope to find some good there too to bring home.
Thank you for your reply.

Hello,
you are in THE city of Pastis, so forget beer there ... unfortunately.

I will not call it that. This city is on its way up. I see improvements from last year when I visited that city. I found some intersting beer at the supermarked and tonight I visited Fietje that had a very good selection of beer. They all deserver a chance to improve.
