Hey everyone. I’m spending a week in Belgium this July. I have yet to try Westvleteren 8. Does anyone if it’s a regular on tap or bottled at any bars or restaurants in Brussels, Brugge, Antwerp, or Gent? I don’t think I can make it to the monastery itself. Any help would be appreciated, thanks! |
Quite easy to find. Not on tap but bottled. If not in bars and restaurants, then definitely in one of the beer shops in the cities you mentioned. |
If you spend 100euros at Beer Planet in Brussels, they will give you one for free. |
the list would be big. Just walk into some good beerbars, and you’ll find it |
Beertemple shop in Brussel usually has it as well. |
Almost every shop I went to in Brugges, Brussels and Ghent had all 3 Westvleteren. |
Not being a smart-ass, fwiw. I would really suggest going to drink it here, as I have always enjoyed it immensely, and you can get the Blond very, very fresh: |

It’s actually quite far out of the way, especially with public transport. It’s possible of course, but will cost you some hours of travel. |
Make the drive to Westvleteren and enjoy it at In De Vrede. Good food and you’re not supporting the secondary market. |
Originally posted by MarcoDL"quite far" is relative, especially for a person visiting from abroad, and more used to traveling large distances. and Struise is only a few kilometers from In De Vrede. Of course, both are easier if you have a car, since that’s one of the few corners of Europe that isn’t well connected by public transport. |
