My tribute to America is serving Brooklyn’s version of the Hopfen Weiss instead of the Schneider version.

Budweiser- quarter barrel, Budweiser American Ale-12 pack, growler of Old Hat Lug Nut Brown, Shiner Smokehaus-12 pack, St. Arnold Summer Pils- 12’er, some homebrew I dragged up with me from Texas(brown ale), and homemade wine the old man made.
About 50 people here. Pitching horseshoes. Shooting the breeze and old bottles and cans. Radio cranked up outdoors. Kids running around like maniacs. Bluegills, perch, burgers, beer brats, and pineapple on the grill. 68 degrees.
And I get to go back to the sweatbox known as Texas tommorrow.
Damn.

If people want to drink macro crap, they will have to bring it themselves. I am certainly not providing it. It’s a matter of pride and principle.
Why would I cook good food and serve crappy beer with it? There are plenty of better micro alternatives to those who like lagers.

DAMN, I was tempted, but a 50 dollar growler is out of my budget (despite drinking a 50 dollar bottle of Hommage last night). I envy you!

I missed the fact this was a BMC bashing thread. In that case fuck bud, millers and coors. God bless America.

Started with Prima Pils. Very solid stuff, but I prefer my pilsners hoppier and drier.
Then Consecration (Batch 002)-- damn good, but I think the bottle last week was a little better, and I like this batch on draft even more. A little too much alcohol and a little too bold here, but still good.
Someone just busted out one of my bottles of Hurlimann Samichlaus ’95, so we’re settin’ this party off now, I suppose. Damn good stuff, but it’s super-rich and very sweet, and I wasn’t really going to open it unless/until we got several hours in (and probably into the night) and we were looking for a dessert-like drink. But someone asked about the Samichlaus beer glass I was serving their Consecration in, and I brought one of the old Hurlimann bottles out of the fridge to show them what it was. Then I went to the bathroom, and the next thing I knew, I had a full glass of ’95 Hurlimann Samichlaus waiting for me on my return. Doops. Really raisiny and with lots of flavors of molasses, brown sugar, and even a kind of curry-like spice component-- leathery, like rum-raisin cake or artisan bread. Always a favorite, but this shit is NO summer beer. Oh well.
Probably next up will be a super-fresh bottle of Avery Maharaja
Also have lined up:
Russian River Beatification Batch 002
Alpine BORIS Imperial Stout
Pizza Port Cuvee de Tomme ’07
Anchor Porter
Deschutes Black Butte Porter
Bell’s Batch 7000
GI Bourbon County ’07
Dieu du Ciel Rigor Mortis Abt
Ayinger Celebrator (for the brats!)
Isastegi Sagardo Naturala basque cider
Definitely won’t get to all of ’em. But they’re there if we get that far.
