Then Consecration (Batch 002)-- damn good, but I think the bottle last week was a little better, and I like this batch on draft even more. A little too much alcohol and a little too bold here, but still good.

Someone just busted out one of my bottles of Hurlimann Samichlaus ’95, so we’re settin’ this party off now, I suppose. Damn good stuff, but it’s super-rich and very sweet, and I wasn’t really going to open it unless/until we got several hours in (and probably into the night) and we were looking for a dessert-like drink. But someone asked about the Samichlaus beer glass I was serving their Consecration in, and I brought one of the old Hurlimann bottles out of the fridge to show them what it was. Then I went to the bathroom, and the next thing I knew, I had a full glass of ’95 Hurlimann Samichlaus waiting for me on my return. Doops. Really raisiny and with lots of flavors of molasses, brown sugar, and even a kind of curry-like spice component-- leathery, like rum-raisin cake or artisan bread. Always a favorite, but this shit is NO summer beer. Oh well.

Probably next up will be a super-fresh bottle of Avery Maharaja

Also have lined up:

Russian River Beatification Batch 002
Alpine BORIS Imperial Stout
Pizza Port Cuvee de Tomme ’07
Anchor Porter
Deschutes Black Butte Porter
Bell’s Batch 7000
GI Bourbon County ’07
Dieu du Ciel Rigor Mortis Abt
Ayinger Celebrator (for the brats!)
Isastegi Sagardo Naturala basque cider

Definitely won’t get to all of ’em. But they’re there if we get that far.

What a gracious host

My neighbors would be drinking cerveza or Bud Light, so I figured I’d help them out with Firestone Pale 31 and Drifter Pale Ale. 7/4/2009 8:12:30 PM

I was drinking a few different craft and import beers, as for my guests they were told to bring thier own. Most have no beer taste!! 7/13/2009 10:55:15 AM

Took my first kegged homebrew - 5 gal of Belgian ale (8.5%). Not a good picnic beer, but the only thing I had available. We kicked it. 7/13/2009 3:07:01 PM
