Yes that is going to be quite difficult to beat for quality and ABV it wins hands down, but unless you’re lucky enough to live close by then the travel costs would make this poor value for all but the lucky few.

Another tramps favourite in the UK is Tennent’s Super its £1.36 a can in Asda but it is only a 440ml can and doesn’t score as highly as Special Brew.

SN Bigfoot 9.6% $11-13 sixer
GD Hibernation 8.7% $8.99ish a sixer

those are the two I try and keep in stock.

Old Rasputin - $8 a four-pack, 9% ABV and simply spectacular.

A personal favorite of mine-

Budweiser + Everclear (190 proof)

Some fun facts about Everclear from Wikipedia.org:

Everclear is also used in cooking because its high concentration of alcohol causes it to extract flavors well.

Everclear can be used to prepare medicinal tinctures and spice extracts. This is done by soaking herbs in it for several days and then straining out the solid material.

The 190-proof variety of Everclear is sometimes used by backpackers as fuel in alcohol stoves (often a homemade beverage-can stove). It burns cleanly, and since it is not as toxic as methanol and isopropanol, it can be stored inside cookware without contamination.

Everclear can be used as an antiseptic.

It is used by home perfumers to make perfumes.

Everclear can also be used to clean electronic parts, such as circuit boards and heatsinks. It evaporates quickly and leaves little or no residue.

Woodworkers and luthiers favor it for use with shellac, because it evaporates more slowly than denatured alcohol, which may cause minute surface cracks (called "crazing" or "crackle") because it evaporates too quickly.

Everclear is occasionally used by biologists to preserve invertebrate specimens.

Everclear is perhaps the best cleaner for the restoration of tobacco smoking pipes.

Not to be a jerk, but I have to take exception to that post. $16.99 for a sixer of Ruination doesn’t quite fit into my definition of high value (low comparative price) for high ABV. Just sayin’, and no offense meant.

In my humble opinion, I’d echo the earlier post that mentioned Lagunitas. Great beer for a lower comparative price, with high(er) ABV than most. I can get a sixer of Maximus for a dollar (or more) cheaper than a sixer of DFH 60 Minute (a sixer of Laugunitas’ Undercover Shutdown Ale goes for the same price as the 60 Min). Their Wilco Tango Foxtrot is the same price as most bombers, yet has a rather large ABV.

I think this is more what he meant. I’ll throw Bigfoot into the ring. I think it’s like $12/six here.
