Yes indeed. Happy to pick up the good shelf material but was looking to find some of these "whales" that people talk about. Just curious what my fellow Philadelpha area natives did besides trading. Thanks for your input! |
what "whales" are you looking to harpoon? |
"Whales" is just some idolatrous term coined by some bored/rich kids that were new to the hobby, looking for a way to isolate & conquer it, like everything else in their lives. They either find new hobbies to crush soon enough, or fall back down to earth & actually start to like beer for what it is. |
haha I tend to agree, MicroGrog. That said, I have some catching up to do! There’s still some things that I’ll never track down on a shelf that I’d love to try. If you check my cellar, you see that most of it is fairly pedestrian, easily findable beer. |
You can get the 50/50 stuff when it is released every year(the week it is released for ~25$ a bottle). Most of the Mikkeller stuff can be found in bottleshops. and the Russian river is on tap on the reg.It is good that these are personal whales and not sociatial whales as they would be beached. |
I would advise against acquiring any dark lord and just drinking any other imperial Russian stout. Just saying, not to mention you will not find any for sale in PA ever. |
I have a few of the 50/50s but am still looking for the more obscure ones, like PVW 23yr or Elijah Craig 20. I happen to like that series. |
Not a fan and also not worth it. It is just not that good. |
Capone’s is definitely the place that will get consistent unusual product. |
The Beer Store in Southampton is probably the best bottle shop in the area right now. |
