I will be in Orlando from Apr 22 - 25 (arrive Sun and leave Wed) for a work conference at Disney Swan/Dolphin resort. No mode of transportation currently. I might look into renting a car.

Let me know if any of you locals are interested in meeting up.

Cheers,
Joel

Joel, a few of us usually meet up at Redlight Redlight when we have visitors in town. Hit us up closer to your visit and we’ll arrange something.

It would cost you an arm and a leg to get to Redlight from the Disney area via cab, so you’d be better off renting a car.

While you’re on the tourist side of town, check out La Luce at the Hilton Orlando Bonnet Creek. Supposed to be legit. I’ve eaten at Blue Zoo in your hotel, and I found it to be decent, but overrated.

Does Redlight Redlight allow customers to bring their own beer in?

BTW...you can bring the girl in your avatar with.

As long as you share with Brent and buy a few they don’t care. The pool bar at the swan and dolphin will usually have a few brooklyn or dogfish beers on tap. At the boardwalk next to your hotels there is big river brewing a gordon biersch restaurant.

email me and I can check rates for you for a rental (size, for how long and pickup and dropoff location)

I’m now reconsidering a car rental. Since I’ll only be in town for a few days, cab rental may be a better (and safer) option, even if it’s a bit pricey.

Oops...I should say cab fees, not cab rental

Safer, definitely. Just FYI, you’re talking about 25 miles each way down probably the most congested and frustrating road in the entire state (I-4). I STRONGLY recommend avoiding rush hour. It can be a brutal drive when it’s busy.

Also, it looks like I’ll be in Miami that weekend. I might be back by Tuesday the 24th...not sure yet.

Update...Let me know if you guys are interested in meeting up while I’m in town. I’ve decided against car rental, and will look into cab transportation instead. Sunday the 22nd or Tuesday the 24th look to be the best evenings for me. Looking for a good cheap cab fare, any suggestions? Also, what time would be good to meet up, assuming we can make this work?
