80 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 17/20 Dogbrick (561) Columbus, Ohio | April 17, 2013 (Visited 02/2013): 12 South Tap Room is located ironically on 12th Ave South in a cool little neighborhood in south Nashville. There is a small parking lot in front of the building.
There is a patio out front. Inside is an eclectic array of funky colors, art, and old concert hand bills. Cement floors, and stickers around a cooler behind the short bar in the center. There is a chalkboard displaying new beers behind the bar.
The beer selection consists of around 20 taps with regional brewers like Blackstone, Calfkiller, New Belgium, Schlafly, Green Man and Yazoo. Many bottles too including Brooklyn, Oskar Blues, Rogue and Butternut. A few imports as well.
Service on a relatively slow early afternoon was good. Both the bartender and server were friendly and knowledgeable.
Food at 12 South includes, sandwiches, burgers, burritos and the like. Our sandwiches were both enjoyable.
Overall this is a great little spot to hit outside the city for some good beer and food. | 76 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 16/20 mcrae19 (3) , | March 30, 2013 Haven’t tried the food, but 12 South is one of the best places in Nashville to grab a beer. The tap selection is pretty good, although during my most recent visit, the draft lines weren’t functioning, so we were limited to bottles and cans. The upside was that the bottled and canned selection is also solid and rotates pretty often. The space itself is intimate and inviting, but because it’s small, I’d suggest going during the daytime, if you can. Otherwise, good luck finding a spot. | 76 AMBIANCE 2/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 16/20 maverick32 (4) Virginia | February 11, 2013 If you like noise then this is the place for you. Service was excellent and a good selection of beer. Food was very good. The place is small and fills up quickly. We arrived about 6 pm and by 7 there were at least a dozen people waiting for a seat. | 84 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 18/20 NachlamSie (447) Tennessee | May 15, 2012 This is a funky little restaurant/bar. Tons of cool stickers and decor adorn nearly every inch of wall and ceiling. the food menu is solid with emphasis on locally sourced offerings. I had a delicious brisket quesadilla. There is a patio. The beer selection rotates often and covers a good spectrum of styles and regions. Expect to pay $5 to $6 for any beer. It’s a funky little eatery with lots of personality and a fresh, changing beer selection. | 86 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 5/10 OVERALL 17/20 jbrana (30) NASHVILLE, Tennessee | February 29, 2012 This place has a great selection of less mainstream beers on tap. They often have stuff that you can’t find anywhere else and their staff "share" tables, so there is an ever-evolving amount of folks dropping by to check in on you. All of the servers seem to have a good knowledge of the beers on tap. My only complaint is that it is often too crowded for the small place that it is. It is hard to find parking, and even harder to find a table in the evenings (particularly the weekends). | 88 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 17/20 IndyBeerSnob (14) Nashville, Tennessee | February 18, 2012 Excellent place for awesome beer and awesome food. A killer combination. Go here if you want some beers that are a little out of the normal mainstream of beers. Plenty of taps and bottles, this place is one of my favorites. Oh yeah and the TV’s are awesome | 78 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 9/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 15/20 bleeng (123) Houston nowhere near Beersel, Texas | May 3, 2011 Neighborhood hangout with kids welcome. No smoking a huge plus. Great service at the bar with samples freely poured. Nice well thought out selection of about 20 taps and 100 bottles. Food is good and all the other plates looked delicious. Parking is tight. Beats the smoking Saucer. | 98 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 15/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 20/20 ambroze (1) Old Hickory, Tennessee | April 29, 2011 This is my favorite place in Nashville to go and grab that unique brew on tap. The service is unreal! The servers are always coming around checking on you. I really enjoy the no smoking inside and the fact that you will see people bringing their kiddos in there for a drink or 2. All about being responsible. | 80 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 17/20 Rustyham (98) St. Petersburg, Florida | March 15, 2011 I really liked this place- their beer selection was big, not as big as Flying Saucer, but it had a lot more micros and special releases. The food was also very good, but a little expensive. My Hawaiian cheese steak was $13. Most of the beers on tap were only $3 on the day that I went Great place- I’ll prob be going often, especially since it’s so close to work. | 72 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 14/20 curly (114) Kirkland, Washington | January 7, 2010 Great little place, pretty small but a very good specialty beer selection. I have had some very rare things here like Lips of Faith. Good food also, pretty low-key place. |
