Nice little brewpub in Vienna. Great outdoor seating for nice weather. Like all places there you will have to deal with cigarette smoke. They had 5 rotating beers, 1 of which was not available, and a couple standard brews. Pretty decent beer. It was great to get a break from all the lagers and have an IPA. Food was decent. Interesting "veggie burger" which Iím pretty sure was breaded deep fried tofu but it was good.

I must say the food was quite good and a bit more elevated than typical bar food. Friendly service. Selection is limited to just a few of their own beers. Didnít have the best stuff when I was there. Overall not bad

Good things first, in general they have good beers. The last times though, the draught stuff was in very bad condition. 2 of the 4 beers I tried were not good. One beer I would consider a drain pour. For some reason this place is always crawling with peole though. If you want a table I suggest getting here early. Service is quite hit and miss (and over the years I think it definitly gotten worse). One of the last times I went there with a friend, they had 2-3 free tables, but because we just wanted to have some drinks they wouldnt offer us a table and instead said to go to the bar. Of course they didnt realize that there was any space at the bar. So there was some argument about it and in the end we left. If I go here, I usually skip the food too, its just been too below average really (but I guess my bad luck there :P).
So in general beers are good, if its your first time, stop by. Unfortunatly they dont know how to keep their taps clean, food is not good either. Overall location is good though.

I wasnít impressed with this place. Food was ok but service was less than ok. The beers didnít hold the level that I expected and I only found the Belgian IPA decent.

Place tends to be overcrowded in the evening so there is a chance youíll have to wait to be seated. They have great IPA joined by several seasonals. Always something new to try. Food is great. When in Wien I always pay it a visit.

When I arrived between 7 and 8 pm on a Friday it was pretty busy on the patio. Walking into the downstairs bar revealed that it was indeed smokey, and I had little intention of trying the Rauch version of Hop Devil. We went upstairs and were greeted by a server who gave us one of the only remaining open tables. It was crowded and loud with people who eating and drinking. I couldnít completely get my legs under the table which didnít make for the most comfortable of seating. We were planning on getting food, and I figured I should take my opportunity to have a schnitzel in Vienna, so my decision was quick.
In little time my beer had arrived. I sat back and scanned the room and began to enjoy my surroundings. Not long after I was slapped with a vicious wave of body odor. I looked over to see two men and a small child had arrived. At first I thought it couldnít be that bad, but as the moments passed I came to realize that this was some next level stink. When I caught a serverís eye, I asked if we could move to another table. She said that we couldnít, and I contemplated walking out. He removed his jacket, and the stench flowed forth like a dense morning fog into the valley of my nostrils. Our food arrived and in my stunned state I was not a man of action, I was trapped.
My schnitzel and potato salad were decent, but there was this funky taste to them. It paired decently with the Hop Devil. Several times during the meal people walked into the table. Twice it wasnít too bad as it was an average jostling. One time though a man waddled into our table and propelled it several inches. I addressed him with a fitting title and question, but he just lumbered away with no apology or notice. I guess I need to work on my Deutsch. I didnít mind the two instances much as they apologized, but the other was too much. I understand wanting to maximize space in a dining room, but if there isnít adequate space to walk by then the floor plan needs to be retooled.
My time at 1516 started with promise but spiraled out of control into a deluge of man rot and space invasion. The food and beer were decent, but I expect a small level of comfort when paying 10 plus euro for an entree which is basically not smelling other customers and not having people impale themselves on my table. If I lived in Vienna I would probably never eat here again, but would possibly drink a glass of beer outside if the weather was nice. I doubt my terrible experience is completely typical there, but that didnít make it any less real for me.

My favorite brewpub in the world. Itís the first place I go upon my every arrival in Vienna and if Iím not late for the plane - the last place before departure. Itís really that good. Constantly rotating seasonals are fantastic! Being a loyal customer of this establishment for well over 10 years (I come to Wien quite often) - I have tried huge number of these, and I must say - they never disappoint - always creative & top quality. Food is also good here. 1516 beef burger being my top choice.

Great position. Looks pretty decent inside, although I hate the fact that the non-smoking section is upstairs. Waitresses are over-eager, but at least you get service. I guess itís better this way than waiting forever to get a drink. Nice selection of self-brewed beers, pretty good food and competitive prices. Definitely a must-visit in Vienna, but I donít know if it quite deserves the #1 spot in Ratebeer.

Excellent brewpub in the center of Vienna. Two stories, both are packed every time Iíve been there. Downstairs is the bar and smoking area, upstairs non smoking and lots of tables. All in dark wood and very beer hall like. Considering the crowds I was lucky each time I managed to find a table without reservation in advance.
Food is excellent except for the ribs... Burgers are amazing but the ribs left me disappointed. Staff is friendly and all know English, always prepared to help with the table.
Beer is excellent and the selection ranges is enhanced with some seasonal brews all coming from the brewpubs master brewer. 1516 Black Sherry would be my choice for desert.
Iím sure Iím going back there next time Iím in Vienna.

A great place right in the centre of Vienna, just a short walk from the st. Stephens. Busy place with some fine and some not that fine beers. Food was excellent staff also. Some beers a bit too bready, but you can find some real gems: like their IPA or Sandroís cerveja. All together a really fine place.
