90 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 18/20
Went early on a Saturday evening for dinner with my folks. As they seated us, there was a big "I heart IPA" on the chalkboard with about 10 different IPAs, including Ruination Anniversary and several other locals. Draft list was an awesome mix of local and national beers with beers from Ohio a few bucks cheaper than the other beers. The food was awesome- salad with mixed greens and pumpkin seeds with Gorgonzola followed by some great hummus and eggplant parm that was exceptional. For dessert were beignets with espresso and whipped cream along with a Maumee Bay Eclipse and a Founders Breakfast Stout. I will be back every time I am within an hour of this place.

I submitted a reservation on there website and got confirmation, however they told me I didnít have a reservation when I arrived. The lady worked it out and got us the next table however. This place has something like 50 different drafts, lots of IPA right now. Atmosphere is tapas meets nice restaurant, exposed brick, bamboo table tops, colorful walls. There is some parking on the street, but it was completely full. Parking was just about to capacity also, however this was a Saturday night near prime time. Food was very good also. Next time we go to Polaris for shopping this place is not that far, I will be back.

Cool looking mellow place to have drinks and talk to friends in a normal tone. They just added 24 taps bringing the total to over 48. They tend to be IPA/Stout/big beer heavy with a couple of Lagers, Pilsners, Belgians available. Food is always excellent, by far the best in town, and on par with anything you will find in Central Ohio. Service is sometimes slow, but better than most places in Delaware. One of the places in Delaware making this a beer traveler destination town.

(Visited 02/2011 and a couple times since): 1808 (honoring the year Delaware, OH was founded) is located in downtown Delaware across from the history Strand Theatre on Winter off Sandusky. They have a decent size lot behind the restaurant but they are always busy so spots may be difficult to find.
The entrance opens to the bar area, with high table seating and a bar along the left wall. Through a door on the right is the restaurant seating area, which is open and does a good job balancing a modern feel with an older building complete with uneven, creaky floors.
1808ís beer selection is solid. They have recently expanded their tap list to 50, and the draught menu changes monthly and always includes local options like Columbus Brewing, Neil House etc. Other craft brewers are represented like Victory, Stone, Bellís, DFH, Founders, and Southern Tier. A couple of imports like Hoegaarden and Wittekerke are available too. Monday is Happy Hour all day and features 1/2 off Draughts.
Service has been consistently good on my visits. We have never sat at the bar so my beer knowledge expectations were not as high, but the servers have done a good job speaking to the available beers and styles.
Food at 1808 has been very good. We went the first time for Valentineís Day and their special menu and cocktails were awesome. I am also a big fan of their fried chicken.
Overall this place is highly recommended for Central Ohio beer lovers. I call it the "Bodega of the North".
