I always come here because of the tap selection, for it has the most taps in Columbia with a great selection of craft beers to boot; however, I always end up not enjoying my experience there because of the waitresses. Not one knows anything about beer, for they think everything complements a burger and chips. Once you do order, it takes forever for the beer to come out to you if you arenít someone the waitress can flirt with, for that is what they only seem to be able to do. Really, the waitress lean on the table and flirt with single guys while ignoring families and couples, which is rude as hell. Looking to the food, it is general bar fare with burgers, wings, and pizza, but it isnít executed that well because it seems like they count on everyone being drunk. Overall, I really only come here for the beer, but Iím starting to wonder if even that makes it worth it.

For Columbia, not bad. Average selection of beers. You can get Moose Drool and other things of that nature while you are there. Nothing to go out of your way for. Average food. Good service. Decent Prices. Again not a place to go and have something new but a good place to go have a drink at during the week.

1839 Taphouse has a pretty good selection of beer for Columbia. They have around 24 taps, probably 5 of which are macros. The remainder is a mix of Schlafly, Boulevard, New Belgium, etc. I like that they usually have 1-2 beers from Perennial (of St. Louis), 1-2 beers from Rock Bridge (of Columbia) - both of breweries that arenít on tap at many local place. They also usually have 1-2 house beers that are contracted brewed by outside breweries. The bar does have a college bar vibe to it. They regularly have shot specials and it seems like most people are drinking macros or mixed drinks. I probably wouldnít go out of my way to check out Taphouse, seeing as it is a couple miles from downtown, but it is a decent bar if you live in the area, and I think it is probably one of the top 5 bars in Columbia for craft beer.
