Friday, August 7, 2009, before the Giants - Reds game. Got there around 4, stayed till 6. This place really fills up before a game. Had beers outside in the beer garden, and then had dinner before heading out. Service was good for a Friday game night, and the food was above average. The beer is much better on tap than what they sell in the cans IMO. You are much better spending your money here than at ATT! Cheaper better beer and food. The Black is Back IPA was our favorite. They will put a sampler together if you ask, not sure on the price. We saw several people getting them at the bar. The place is open, loud, but hey, it is a brewpub.Service was good, and staff was knowledgable.

Already fairly crowded on a Monday afternoon at about 3PM, luckily grabbed one of the two open bar steats. Space was smaller than expected, but open floor plan makes it seem bigger. Open kitchen is visible from the bar and main seating area. Felt like a bit of a tourist feel. Got a flight of 6x4oz for $12, and the cheese curds, of which there seemed to be a never ending supply. Crowd stayed steady around the bar the whole time though there was a good amount of sit down space open. Service was quick and friendly in spite of the crowd. After not being overly enthused by some of the cans from them that make their way to the east coast, I went in with slightly lowered expectations. I was pleasasntly surprised and would definitely recommend the stop if youíve got the time. Easy walking brewpub crawl (plus a visit to AT&T park) from my hotel near Union Square was able to include Bartlett Hall, ThirstyBear, Black Hammer, 21A, Local Brewing.

A bit on the yuppie side of upscale pub for me; lots of wood, a cool upstairs that overlooks the brewery. Service was quick, but kind of curt, and didnít seem to care too much about the beer. Food was alright, beer was better than average, but even the cool stuff wasnít that great. I wish I would have checked out the tasting room and production facility, but this was a decent little stop towards the end of my night.

worth a stop, but far from my favorite stop in the city. just not many beers that stand out, though several are pretty good. better than average pub fare on the menu.

Excellent food For everyone in our party. The Fish and chips were fantastic. Very good beer; It was just a little on the pricey side. Otherwise, excellent and Iím very glad I made the trip out there. No wait for the table or beer on A Friday night. Would definitely visit again.

Fairly small brewpub near Giants stadium on 2nd street. Waited 1.5 hours to get seated on a random Monday night (no Giants game). Ordered apps and beers at the bar while we waited. Nice selection of fried items! Dinner was solid; some nice choices that are basically upscale bar food. Beers were all good. Lots of IPAs and wet hopped pale ales on tap when we were there. Worth a visit.

Donít bother going anywhere near this place before a Giants game unless you go real early! I had to return a few days after the Giants game when nobody was around.

The food was decent but the draft list really didnít get me two excited. The bartender was very friendly and talkative and we chatted beer for a good while. The draft list was focus around hops (three different IPAís) yet not one DIPA available. Back In Black was on but I had already sampled that years before. Overall, I guess the draft list is hit or miss. And really even for SAn Fran the bill was a tad on the high side.

Finally getting around to rating the place, since Iíve been there a number of times. Not the best place, but good choice for pregame. IF you can catch them when they have some of their high end creations available, it gets interesting. Otherwise the beer menu is good, but not amazing. All that said, theyíve been around a long time, and are always part of any conversation around SF craft beer.

Solid option thatís stumbling distance from the ballpark. Iíve always had a soft spot for 21A beers as they were early adopters of two of my favorite beer ímovementsí - Cans and Session-able beers. Beers are consistently very solid with the occasional one-off gem on the draft-only list @ the pub, and the food is good, generally standard brewpub sandos and burgers, et al.

Stopped in Friday afternoon and it was pretty full, possibly from the sports crowd since it emptied up towards the end of our visit. Decent sized U shaped bar with a good amount of tables. Table service was good. 10 drafts available including one guest tap. Flights available in sets of 5 so you can easily tick everything in one visit. Beers included their usual canned offerings and a few draft exclusives. Small but solid bottle/can list. Food was good, tried the cheese curds and tacos. Solid place.
