This Acme is located in the Fairlawn area of Akron in the West Market Plaza near I-77. Being a grocery store, the parking lot is plenty spacious. It is also only a short distance from some other good beer spots like Mustard Seed Market, World Market, Thirsty Dog and Winking Lizard.
I was simply blown away by the beer selection here. The beer section is in the rear of the store and is unlike anything I have seen in a grocery store. You can find beers from GLBC, DFH, Stone (they had the 7th), Moylanís, Avery, Bellís, etc. They even had a section devoted to Beligians and another to German beers. Other countries like Serbia were even represented. Truly impressive. The prices were good as well.
Another pleasant surprise was the service here. There was a nice woman keeping the area tidy and it appeared her job is to handle just this area. Kind of a beer stewardess. I recommend this place highly for anyone traveling to Akron or passing by Rt 18 on I-77.
Worth checking out. Acme is one of the only places I have seen in Ohio that actually ocassionaly puts good beer on sale. They have a great selection and if you are luck you might get a really great deal.
A supermarket with a beer/wine/liquor store located in the back. Selection is far better than Mustard Seed for Hopping Frog and Great Lakes, but other than that I didnít think that they were too amazing. You cannot break-up six packs, as the numerous signs point out, and prices are average. I did not see anyone near the beer, so I do not know about service. Worth stopping at if you want Hopping Frog or Great Lakes, but if you want a mixed 6 pack, go to Mustard Seed down the road.
Very nice liquor department in the back corner of the store. Funny that I used to shop here with my parents for groceries when I was a kid years ago and never knew what kind of beer splendor this place beheld. Nice cool, dark environment with some hard to find treats, and some stuff that I canít get in the Milwaukee/Chicago area. Iíll make a point to hit this place each time I visit my parents back home.
I definitely could have spent way too much money here. I wanted to buy everything but I was on a road trip so I got things not available to me. The beer section is awesome and huge. I picked up some Two Brothers, Hoppin Frog, Bells, Vertical 6 and 7. They seriously had so much great stuff. Very well organized and had some cold stuff and the rest on the shelves. Bring a big wallet and have fun here.
Nice grocery store that happens to have an entire section devoted to beer and liquor. A bit more of a selection than Mustard Seed Market, which is righ down the street. Many US micros are available, like Victory, Weyerbacher, AleSmith, and Three Floyds. Thereís a good deal of Belgian 750ís as well, just nothing ultra-rare. Worth uncovering.
Located in a strip mall less than a mile off the I-77 freeway. There is a large beer, wine, and liquor section in the back of the store. You canít miss it. They also have a growler station with about 6 taps. Behind the growler station is a large aisle divided by BMC on one side and craft on the other. This is a typical layout for grocery stores in the area (minus the growler station). They have all the typical craft fare for the area and sometimes have a nice release of some sort. Worth a visit if only driving by. I wouldít go out of my way to stop here.
This is one of the best places on the West side of Arkon to beer shop. You would never expect to find such a huge selection of beer in a grecerystore! They donít sell single bottles, but there is usually somebody around that can help you find what youíre looking for
Wow, the ACME stores down my way carry a great selection but this one blows the others away. I was amazed at the extensive offering by this store. Walked away with some killer brews at great prices. This should be the 1st place to stop at in the area since they rival any other selection, and the prices will be the same if not lower. Absolutely amazing for a grocery store.
