Simply wonderful. Unique brewpub, viking style. Serves pretty much the full range of Ægir beers, but only 4-5 of them on tap. Restaurant upstairs has a rich menu - both creative and traditional, and well matched with the different Ægir beers. Can be crowded when the cruise ships are in town, and service can be at bit ’off’ sometimes. Tasting trays with their regular tap beers is popular. My suggestion that they also should offer tasting trays for the more ’adventurous’ did not go do down well w the bartender, and when I followed up w ordering a Lindisfarne it certainly did not break any ice. Still - had a smashing time there for my 50th Birthday, and you can tell that it’s quality when you get served your Lynchburg nitecap in just the right kind of snifter glass.

A schooling example for any Micro about to start: Get located in a place with huge amounts of tourists, build a beatiful brewpub; and the profit of the business is home safe. Excellent beer in a fabulous location. Do visit if you pass by Flåm! A place not to be missed.

What a lovely building! They have everything from the brewery. I drank a perfect India Pale ale before I had to catch the train back to Myrdahl. That said, guests are cruise tourists, but Ægir is still recommended strongly

Yes, this is a tourist’s brewpub. But if you’re in Flåm you’re almost certainly a tourist yourself, so you might as well try to enjoy your trip instead of complaining about how touristy everything is. The building is an attraction in it’s own right, built to look like a stavkirke on the outside with a spacious interior centered on a big fireplace. It’s pretty chill if there is no cruise ship in port, but a zoo if there is. A great place to wind down your evening. Bartender was friendly and helpful, but a little hard to get ahold of, even if the place is empty. They serve almost all the Ægir beers, mostly in bottles. The tap selection is limited mostly to their 4.7% beers, which seems a little backwards to me since you can buy those at the nearby grocery store or the attached bottleshop for half the price. You can get a flight of these mainline beers. Most of the beers are American styles so maybe not that exciting for American tourists, but it’s impressive how much flavor they can cram into 4.7%. There are some interesting things on the the bottle menu (very expensive) and they make their own Aquavit too. Fun for the whole family! You should also visit the production facility down the road, its very spiffy.

Visited together with yngwie and we started by getting a tour of the production brewery by Vegard. Which probably is the most beautiful craft brewery I have seen so far. Later we went down to the brewpub and shared a couple of beers round the fireplace. This place is worth visiting just to see that brewpub and it’s just a bonus that the beers are great too.

Gildehall i vikingstil med dragehoder og med en peis som rager høyt over taket. Trebenker med sitteunderlag i skinn. Norges tøffeste bryggeripub...?

Oh well, so here I am at what some people have described as the one of the most beautiful brewpub ever. While I agree that this place is one of a kind, large carved wooden chairs, central fireplace and other majestic stuff. But I found the whole thing a bit too much over-the-top with the Viking style atmosphere. This is a touristy pub and it designed to impress the tourists. And biggest problem is not a single window!!! You are next to the breathtaking Flåm fjord sitting in a pub with no window. After two pints we bought bottles from their bottle shop and went in a little park outside to drink the beers looking at the fjord. They had 7 of their own beers on tap, prices was US$12 for a 33cl and US$20 for a full pint (sounds absurd but these are decent prices for Norway). They do sampling trays. They have a separate door for the shop (bottles + other stuff) but they are only allowed to sell their beers 4.7% or less because apparently only government Vinmonopolet can sell beers above 4.7%. The pub offers hot food but we’re talking basic pub fare here with burger and a few other things. Not worth a detour for the pub, but worth a detour for the beautiful fjord where you can rent a bike or go kayaking.

Great place with great decoration, the wood chairs and the fireplace are awesome. Only AEgir beer, expensive (specially lynchburg natt). Good service.
