Visited 30th May. Very popular bar/restaurant slightly out of the centre of the old town and worth the trek. Nice atmosphere and selection

Nice, fairly large restaurant with good food and reasonable beer selection. Visited on a Monday night in February. Had the place pretty much to ourselves. Worth a visit.

Seems I havenít rated this before... Visited many times about a decade ago, so Iíll have to rely on memory since I havenít been there since that time. At that time, this was quite an exciting place to visit for a beer geek: the guy who was apparently responsible for the beer selection back then, was a passionate (and in fact, quite funny) beer geek with whom it was always a pleasure to chat. Cosy atmosphere - though it could get quite cold in winter sometimes... Beer selection was and hopefully still is extensive, with many regional and traditional Belgians. Writing about this makes me curious how it is now, Iíll revisit this place in the near future, for sure.

Pretty much unchanged in the 18 years Iíve been coming here. Nice atmosphere .Good beer beer menu. Well worth the trek from the centre.
Update: getting very expensve and like Kraddel, had the wrong beer served - the regular sweet Boon kriek rather than the oude version.

More of a restaurant than a bar, decent enough with a reasonable selection.

Good service, typical Flemmish dishes and they added another bar so a bigger slection of beers on draft.

This was our last stop in Antwerpen on a fairly ridiculous pub crawl led by Matt Rooney, commentated by Uli, and chauffeured by Kurt from Belgium in a Box. I competely forgot that you can drink beer at a younger age in Europe than in the US so I was a bit surprised to see what looked like highschool kids sitting outside drinking beer. Inside was an interesting scene. I got to drink Chimay white out of a ceramic Chimay mug and I was informed that if I break it and I couldnít replace it (of course I canít, theyíve been discontinued for 20+ years) theyíd extract itís value in the form of a pound of flesh. That punishment would presumably by administered by the big Russian-looking guy with the Stalin-esque mustache who was menacing and for whatever reason wearing a sash. All this was in good fun of course. He tried to convince us to come to his beer festival later that week but that was going to be our last day in Brussels so we opted not to head back to Antwerp for this. The other servers were very friendly and happily poured beers for us. There were a couple of ticks available but as mentioned above I went with the half liter of Chimay in the fancy mug ( http://i.imgur.com/0JvLOA8.jpg ).
Over all the beer list was pretty decent. The atmosphere and service were pretty good though. I had a blast here and would come back.
