Small tasting bar set up in the warehouse/brewery. Staff was very friendly and helpful, beers of course were great. A buck a taste, canít beat it. Great place.

Iíve been here maybe half a dozen times, the first time being the 2007 BA Decadence release and the most recent being last Saturday to get my BA Speedways.
Not much has changed over the years other than theyíve moved next door and made a prettier bar/tasting area. It always seems to be pretty busy on Saturdays but getting a beer is never difficult. Nice people, nice atmosphere, great beer.
They offer 1L growlers now which is nice but since I get down there so infrequently Ive never bought one.

Have been here many times. Always a nice place to stop and grab some Alesmith beers and growlers. They have some beers on-tap that typically donít make it outside of the brewery, the staff is friendly, and the prices are very good.

Alesmith letís you invade their breweryís barrel room slash warehouse to sample their beers on tap, get growler fills, and purchase bottles to go. The best thing about Alesmith is the staff- extremely knowledgable and super friendly. I talked to one of the women for about 30 minutes about all their beers. Very impressive. Downside here is that unlike Lost Abbey, you canít sit at the bar and have a few pints. You can only consume plastic cup samplers of whatís on tap. With that said you can get all their bottled normal releases to go along with shirts, glassware. Very nice place not too far out of the way from main San Diego. Definitely come here with empty growlers at the ready!

There is a reason that Alesmith has always been my favorite brewery. Peter is unreal. He took time out of his busy schedule to shoot the shit with me. I cannot say enough good words about Peter, the staff and the brewery. Oh yeah and the beers on tap are incredible. Speedway stout...oh my.

Hung out at Alesmith for their 2007 Barrel Aged Decadence release. A fun time was had with the many ratebeerians in the tasting line outside. As for the brewery and the release, everything went smoothly with there numbering system. I got to meet Peter and speak to him for a while. Not only is he an amazing brewery, but also a nice guy who is really passionate about the beer culture. The tasting bar and some good stuff on tap including My Bloody Valentine and the new All-English Anvil. at $0.50 per sample, its a bargain! Good Beer, good people, fun place!

Small, unassuming place located on a typical out of town business park. Took probably about 20 minutes to drive there from downtown SD, so not bad at all. About 15 taps offering the full range of Alesmith and some seasonals. Highlight was Decadence 2011 on keg and cask. $1 for a taster is great value. Ambience was so-so, but we were there during the day mid-week. They had a small amount of merchandise on offer as well. Itís obvious that this place is all about the beer and not necessarily about aesthetics. Itís great beer, so who can complain?

Set in the industrial area off Miramar Road. Small bar in the back where about 7 beers were on tap ($0.50 per sample). Going back you pass through their modest brewing facility. Modest doesnít speak to the quality brew they produce. Finally tried the Wee Heavy. Best Scotch Ale Iíve tried by a wide margin. Yum.

For being such a recognized brewery, I can’t understand why the tap room isn’t open for more than two days a week for two hours in the middle of a warehouse district, but perhaps it’s all part of the mystery. Whatever I takes to get growlers of their magic beer, right? I drove from out of town and arrived when they were closed, but they still took five minutes to hook me up, so I think that goes to show that it’s really just about making the best product they can for us.

just a small taproom that is open with a small bar-nothing fancy but the staff was very friendly. I had a great time here and even ran into a ratebeerian there (smokepot). You can get samples for $1 which were pretty decent size. while i was there they had a few rare ones-yulesmith summer, lil devil, nautical nut brown and a mild ale.
