This place is really small. Could only sample but have growlers and bottles to go! Got a jug of Lil Devil only available on tap. Seemed to be alot of merchandise. Gotta stop at this place for the incredible beer!

WOW not much of a place but they put out a great product with only 6 employees.
They all work hard and do all the grunt things. from washing vats to bottling.
Yulesmith, Speedway stout, Nautical nut brown, Numskull barleywine, Horny devil ale, Grand cru all were excellent.
Not much to see from the 3p-5p tasting. Worth the stop. Many locals bring in growlers.

There isn’t much to this brewery except the beer and it is amazing indeed. I went on a Firday during thier open hours and they had 10 beers on tap to try for only 1 buck a pop. If you love good beer you have to go. Its a no frills gig, just great beer, and growler fills to die for. Heres to wishing I lived in SD area.

Went on a Saturday afternoon tour with head brewer Pete and enjoyed seeing behind the scenes. We had access to vintage 2004 Speedway Stout and got to taste all the beers that are not achieveable in bottle. A pretty rustic, rugged brewery, but cool to see.

Set in the industrial area off Miramar Road. Small bar in the back where about 7 beers were on tap ($0.50 per sample). Going back you pass through their modest brewing facility. Modest doesn’t speak to the quality brew they produce. Finally tried the Wee Heavy. Best Scotch Ale I’ve tried by a wide margin. Yum.

Visiting Alesmith was worth the entire trip to So Cal. Not much to the place, really; just a tiny brewery with a small, plywood bar. Peter was extremely welcoming and gracious. Terrific tour. Wonderful, free samples of incredible beer. No food.

What a great place to visit! Peter and Bill were extremely welcoming. Bill talked to my brother and I for over an hour. The beer was great and the service was phenominal. I highly recommend stopping in if you have a chance. You won’t regret it.

What a great stop. I was actually there a while back, the day they released the Summer YuleSmith. Tons of people stopping by, but Peter still manned the taps and talked to five of my friends and I and answered all of our lame questions. Some of the best beer I’ve ever had, and having their offerings on tap (speedway, numbskull, grand cru) should be a priority, as they’re noticeably different.

This is a fantastic brewery it has charm, nuance, and the feeling that you are important. Everyone who has interest in beer should visit, from those who consume mass marketed garbage to the beer enthusiast. Peter Zien and the rest of the staff are helpful and knowledgeable. Go and try the beer fresh, get some unique little devil and stay for the conversation. Growlers and Growler fills are a great deal, though I do like to bottle age thier beers myself. Just went again losing count of how many times, these guys are amazingly friendly and here for us, the beer geeks.

From my 6/7 afternoon visit. Located in a small Business Park. Business front is very nice and the area you walk into is very small. Peter Zien greeted me and was very welcoming when I walked into his Brewery. As I walked through the wet floors to the tasting area in the back I was welcomed by a couple more staff members. I tasted most of their brews they had on tap such as Speedway Stout , Wee Heavy, Old Numbskull, and Horny Devil. They even let me pour my own taste of Speedway which was a treat. I bought a pint glass and a growler of Speedway Stout to go. I’m saving my notes from this tasting experience for my 100th rating. It’s amazing such great brews come from such a small place. A must visit!
