Got there right at closing... had trouble finding the place... missed the tour. The folks were really nice. Got to stick my head in the door of the brewery... looked clean and well organized. Only had a few of their beers available at the store... that was a bit disappointing. I love their beer!

Visited on Monday at opening.

Ambiance: We just stopped there at opening for buying some beers and merchandise so we didnít make the brewery tour. We still ended up spending 1Ĺ hour there drinking our 5 flights at 10 a.m. Itís a large visitor with a few place to sit, not that far from a brewpub.

Service: So much staff on the floor for 10 am on Monday in a visitor center, but I guess they had something to do at the brewery too. Super friendly service.

Selection: 5 beers available for tasting including a few of their limited sours. Bottles available to go as well including the delicious House beer (only available in a wooden crate of 24-bottles though). Three of their limited sours were available when we visited as well as a few more of their "regular" products and a ton of merchandise. Century Ale was delicious!

Food: n/a

Value: We got 5 x 4 oz flights for free including Neddles, Century Ale, Midnight Brett, Saison and Interlude. How can you beat that?

Overall: First time I visited this place after a few trips to Portland already and Iím pretty sure it will be a place I will visit each and every time Iím in the area from now on.

Yep, this was definitely what I expected. Lots of people. A line for the Resurgam, which moved really quickly. There were tours available, but Iíve been on too many beers tours to actually give a shit anymore. Maybe Iíll start going on them again, once I visit Europe with my wife, but for now, Iím not interested. Anyways, I did appreciate the free tasters. Essentially, they give you a free beer for just showing up to the place, which is very nice. They also had free coffee available. Bottles were available, but surprisingly, save the Resurgam, I wasnít able to find as much here, as I was at stores in town. Obviously, the beers are good. The selection is representative of the bottles available. All in all, you should go, but thereís not much that you need to hang out for, other than your free beer.

July 15th 2010: (Overall score 74) We got to Allagash in time for the 3 PM tour. The tour started by a tasting of their regular lineup (white dubbel and trippel) and the Victoria. The tour wasnít very long, but it was fun. We got to see the barrel room where they were currently aging a lot of Curieux. The price is right (completely free) and the people are welcoming. Definitely a worthwhile stop for a beer geek in Portland.

Update: Boy has this place changed since I was here a couple years ago. They obviously underwent some major expansion, the visitor welcoming area is almost like a full fleged brewpub now, they serve a free tasting flight of 4 beers, including some of their pricey sours which was really nice. Staff is super friendly and they have a ton of beer and merch available to go. I had this on as a Portland must stop, but this is now truer than ever.

Large place with a nicely appointed tasting room. 4 x 4 oz. samples for free, and the bartender was happy to provide a sample of a 5th. Customer service was mostly OK, with some cold patches. In general helpful. Lots of bottles available to go,most common but a few less common, and nothing particularly rare on my visit. Beer quality was excellent. Parking was tight for a small crowd, but this was after feet of snow, so it may be better normally. Prices OK.

Free sampling of the 4 beers they have on tap. 3 normal and one special. Some different bottle offerings but not a huge selection. Otherwise a great atmosphere tap room and very nice. Well worth the visit. Just wish I could have had more stuff I couldnít get anywhere else. Also have lots of cool merchandise.

Top notch brewery, good taproom. A small but solid selection of beers for sampling; if I recall correctly, there were three regular beers and one special. They also have a nice selection of bottled beers and pretty of Allagash-branded merchandise. They offer tours, which are very good. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Definitely worth visiting if you are in Portland.

Visited while on vacation from NJ. Really nice setup with outdoor landscaping, and a large bar in the tasting room/store area. Friendly, helpful service plus they gave me some fresh doughnuts from Holy Donut to bring back for my wife and kids. The tour includes beer samples but, they were full for the day. I was able to get bottles of 3 different brewery only releases. Cool spot, worth checking out.

They have done a great job with their industrial park location. Four free samples. Lots of schwag for sale. They do not show the koelschip, and it is pretty much a standard tour. Several beers for sale.

Wow what an awesome brewery. You get a free tour and free sampling of four beers, and those samples are probably like 3 or 4 ounces each. The tasting room had a cool feel to it. People were friendly who worked there. They had a couple beers available in bottles that Iíd never seen before. Definitely a must visit if in the area.
