4 casks on when I was there, Loddon Hullabaloo plus three guests; although they were in reasonable condition, none of them were anything exciting (Wells Bombardier Burning Gold & Dartmoor Jail Ale were the two I had). Staff always seem pretty friendly in here. Access is through a somewhat secretive door up the right hand side (the front door is always locked). Inside itís dark, cosy & distinctly old-fashioned; outside it has one of the larger beer gardens in Readng town centre (admittedly itís up aginst somewhat limited competition) which is surprisingly secluded from the noise & bustle outside, and catches the early evening sun. There are far better pubs in Reading, but the garden combined with friendly staff and regulars may well be a good enough reason to chill out here for an hour or two.

Decent pub with a good beer garden. Not a huge variety of real ales, but they are kept in good nick. Pleasant place to go for a couple of jars.

Cosy small pub with a big garden area. The garden reminds a bit of the one at Cambridge blue, but is a lot smaller. Being in the garden at Allied Arms, makes you forget you are more or less in the city centre. Friendly staff. Mostly Loddon beers on when visiting.

Small centrally located Pub. Few casks and taps plus bottles, the usual stuff. Very friendly staff. Nothing extra ordinary except a wall-hanged juke-box, retro!

A traditional pub in The Butts, just off Broad Street, and close to Zero Degrees. Good range of real ales, Fullers London Pride and Loddon Hullabaloo as regulars plus 3 guests.
