If Iím ever driving out east on the I-8, and Iím not going rock climbing, chances are that Iím driving to this place. One of my favorites breweries to visit in all of southern California. Very quaint little placed situated near the heart of Alpine. You get a totally cozy feeling walking into this place, which isnít much bigger than your standard apartment. Just a few tanks and barrels with equipment stashed in between. Maybe not your best-organized brewery, but I like it that way! Tiny tasting bar and Iíve never had a problem with service. Sean is a really friendly guy and shares info about brewing. Pure Hoppiness, Exponential and Nelson are damn tasty right from the source! Seasonals and rarities occasionally on tap. Why not stop at Liarís right after? Great little place.

I know what toncatcher was talking about below. You seem to have to grill them about information on their beers. They had a great selection on tap when I was there, I think about 10 different brews! Pretty cool little place, service needs a little work.

Stopped by today to check things out and see about picking up a few bottles and maybe a growler. The place seemed nice and cozy, however the staff was very rude when i asked a few questions about their upcoming offerings. I love their beer but was very offended by the service and the attitude. By the way I left without making any purchases.

The best place to try Alpine beers. Their beers seem to taste much better here. Very knowledgable staff, you would expect from a brewery. The brewery is half 55-gallon casks, and half brewing equipement. All crammed into a small place, which makes itís very interesting.

Not much more than a front door and a counter, but these guys make some pretty good beer. Unfortunately, on my visit they were out of Great and said they will likely never make it again. Damn! Oh well. If youíre in the area, you should pay them a visit.

Little store front motif with merchandise to purchase. While I was there, several beers on tap for tasting, one crazy 0.375L bottle for purchase, growler fills and kegs. Very nice friendly staff. Of course some of the beers Iíd been pining for were not available during my recent SoCal visit. Oh well, Iíll be back.

A must stop off. Mainly for the beer. If you are not careful, you may drive right by it. A very small store front brewery. The staff was friendly and talkative. Great selection on tap and bottles. Too band they canít expand thier operation (currently only four fermenters). You basicly go in, stand at the counter, sample a few beers, buy what you like, and leave. Nothing fancy, just good beer.

Very busy place, i went on a Saturday a 3pm. Full of old folks filing up there growlers. The two people atending were more intrested in chating with their freinds than giving service. It took up to 20 minutes for me to get my first sampler. it was delicious by the way there new Nelson (a New Zealand Rye IPA). At the end i got a growler of the stuff and two bombers of ther pure hoppines. Great beer, nice and cozy place but a boring attitude. No tours and not a visitor freindly place. (Good for locals)

despite the previous review indicating serious traffic in this place, I was the only one there for most of the time that I went through 7 or so tasters ($.50 ea). no pretzels in sight either. the staff (two during my visit) were far more interested in lunch and íPimp My Rideí (seriously) than interaction, but things warmed up a bit near the end. a working brewery--although they brew just one day a week--and not a hangout. but a good stop to try everything theyíve got and pick up those few things they do bottle. those who think itís too far from san diego havenít spent much time in southern california where all too much of life happens in the car.

Any time I am in eyeshot of Alpine, I stop in and fill my growler and shoot the breeze with these fine folks. Yes, itís small and yes, it can be busy, but itís a brewery, not a pub. If youíre there to hang out, youíll have to deal with the traffic. The folks who run this place not only make great beer, but they are super nice folks, which makes it THAT much more enjoyable to hand over my cabbage. If anyone from ABC reads this, Iíll be seeing ya soon!
