70 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 5/10 OVERALL 14/20 yngwie (137) Kristiansand, Norway | June 16, 2012 Well, I like the place, and then I don’t. Quite a few of their own beers are really boring, but they have a very decent selection of other beers. It’s a quite good looking place, but then it’s also some kind of sportspub. Service has been quite good, although a bit slow on my visits, so no complaints there, but the area and clientel isn’t my cup of tea, so it’s never a top priority for me to visit Amundsen. But it’s still worth a visit if in Olso, that’s for sure. | 72 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 5/10 OVERALL 14/20 KnutAlbert (235) Oslo, Norway | June 12, 2012| Updated December 5, 2012 This place is a bit of a victim of trying to be a tourist trap, a sports bar, a place for after work drinking and dining and a serious beer bar/brewpub.
There are some very fine beers here, both bottled and on tap, but try to find a quiet time to visit. Sampler glasses of all the draft beers. | 74 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD 6/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 15/20 abemorsten (103) Mosterøy, Norway | June 1, 2012| Updated December 5, 2012 Spent most of the day here the last May day. Friendly staff, good selection - they even have a exclusive beer "cellar" that is listed at the back of their beer menu. This place is dedicated to beer. The kitchen uses beer in their food and then of course their own inhouse brewing. A natural stop next time I visit the capital. | 70 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 14/20 Bart (106) Brussels, Belgium | May 27, 2012| Updated December 5, 2012 Nice place near the center of Oslo. Decent selection of local and international specialty beers. Unfortunatly they had only 1 of their own brews (pale ale) when I visited. Food is regular pub food, ok but nothing special. Service is a bit slow but friendly, although lacking knowledge of the beers. I would expect some more knowledge, especially of the guest brews on tap. Definitly worth visiting. | 80 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 16/20 Sigmund (113) Tau, Norway | May 6, 2012 Visited the brewpub and rstaurant in the daytime, quiet then, and the TV screens were off. Their own brewed beers are only part of the lure here, they have also a wide selection of other beers, with short tasting notes in the menu. They even had Westvleteren 12 and 8, only place in Norway I’ve seen them. Nice interior, central location, friendly staff. Decent food too. Will surely come back. | 78 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 14/20 Travlr (999) Washington, Washington DC | April 30, 2012 Interesting place. They had just three of their own beers on draft, but a plethora from other Norwegian and Danish brewers, as well as a handful from Germany and the US. Staff was very helpful, and generous with free samples. The brewer was busy toiling away on the small system right next to the bar. Didn’t try the food. Worth a look. | 78 AMBIANCE 2/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 5/10 OVERALL 16/20 tfredvik (17) Oslo, Norway | April 7, 2012 Avoid the tables at the scene, they’re lit by some red and green spots making it impossible to judge the colour of the beer properly! Noisy football game at the TV screens. Fabulous selection (I mean, they’ve got Westvleteren 12!), a bit expensive (the before mentioned Westvleteren is 289 NOK). Friendly staff. Didn’t try the food. | 84 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 4/10 OVERALL 16/20 madmitch76 (78) , England | March 31, 2012 For me easily the best of the bars I tried in Oslo. Nice spacious pub with plenty of seating. I could do without all the stools in front of the main bar though - a real pet hate!
Service was quick and knowledgeable and as soon as they clocked that I had a clue about beer I was escorted to the locked back room and shown the rarer bottles and from that room I ticked off Aegir BA Porter and Nogne Cognac Impy so was well happy. Was also very glad to try Utopias from 2009 and 2011. Bleeding expensive mind but I have never seen it available anywhere else.
The Amundsen beers on tap were good and the Pale Ale was light, drinkable, hoppy and sessionable.
Overall a great bar, good taps, good bottles and great service. Beats the other Oslo bars easily. | 84 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 10/10 VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 18/20 jorgenah (10) , | March 15, 2012 Best food in a good beer place. Good selection of beer on tap. They own brew has a even quality. | 88 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 18/20 Arve_Christian (114) Oslo, Norway | March 11, 2012| Updated July 12, 2012 The latest new microbrewery in Oslo. Makes mostly British style ales, which allways are of good quality. Good pub food, and a large selection of "basic" beer + changing menu of special beers |
