82 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 17/20 suprchunk (76) Heinsberg, Germany | May 23, 2013 Tight squeeze in this typical Bavarian restaurant. Great food, excellent service and a nice selection of fresh beer. Don’t expect too many selections because they serve their own beer. But it is so good. | 54 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 5/10 SELECTION 7/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 12/20 Nordcore (27) Lyngen alps, Norway | April 13, 2013 Lots of people so we had to sit in their cellar area, the ambiance and overall rating would probably be better if we sat in maiIn floor area, looked much better and nice up there. No food. | 60 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 5/10 SELECTION 9/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 12/20 azlondon (28) Fribourg, Switzerland | April 7, 2013| Updated April 13, 2013 Very busy ground floor bar area. We went downstairs in what turned out to be the restaurant area. We were gracefully allowed to just have a drink there, but just one drink. Good for trying the four different Andechser beers. Service without a smile, though.
| 68 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 8/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 14/20 McTapps (57) Ruhrgebiet, Germany | February 26, 2013| Updated April 13, 2013 Great spot in central Munich, you just cannot miss it. Nice, old wood interior with old-fashioned benches and tables. It is just like a tourist would expect the Bavaria cliche. The place is crowded during the usual budy hours, but sometimes you’re lucky and get enough place. Nice patio during the warmer months. Selection of beer is -naturally- quite limited, there are only the Andechser beers plus three, four others. Like that place a lot, but I don’t like so many people on one small bench. | 64 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 1/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 15/20 DerWeg (35) Toronto, Ontario | January 15, 2013 *** SCAM ALERT ** Really sweet spot near a Muncih cathedral (Dom) - wonderful inexpensive snacks and pricier mains for enjoying with a ’flight’ of small glasses to try all the beers.
The waiter was a douche bag - SERVICE =1 - who tried to way, WAY overcharge me for my modest but sustaining and tasty meat-patty appetizer. Tourists watch out!!! | 68 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 7/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 15/20 Theydon_Bois (372) The ’Sham, England | September 20, 2012 Last visited on Monday 16/07/12 around 6pm. Place was fairly busy but we found a table inside.
The place to come for Andechs beers if you don’t have the time/inclination to head out to the monastry.
The manager (seeing me making some notes) came over and ended up chatting for 5 minutes about beer culture etc. Really nice guy and dozens of pictures of him on the staircase and in the basement with heaps of famous people. | 72 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 6/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 5/10 OVERALL 18/20 McWorta (71) , Luxembourg | August 23, 2012 Good ambiance! Food is delicious but pricy. Service is germanly fast as one could expect, efficient in busy times. Some good beers on and best is to go for is of course the stuff from Andechs. Well kept and cared for. Nice place! | 70 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 7/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 5/10 OVERALL 17/20 geauxT (34) Virginia | July 29, 2012 Upmarket place near Cathedral; pleasant atmosphere; beer not cheap but excellent quality | 80 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 15/20 EithCubes (215) New Jersey | July 21, 2012| Updated July 26, 2012 Totally packed on the inside but had about 50 open seats under the umbrellas outside. A literal stone’s throw from the Dom, as well as an Augustiner and the Nürnberger Bratwurst Glöckl (both of which were much busier in their outside sections - better views?). I’m convinced the DBD tastes significantly different on tap; today, it was fresh and young-tasting, the major difference being the cherry flavor, which is just an element out of the bottle, but dominant here. | 68 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 14/20 Marko (188) Split, Croatia | April 9, 2012| Updated July 26, 2012 Packed place, didn’t intend to go there first but somehow we ended up there. The interior seemed quite nice but we ended up outside. Service... I ask if they have any seasonal beers, the guy almost starts patronizing us, brings the English menu and starts explaining the regular lineup. Gee, thanks. It was a yes or no question. Got the (quite nice) beers relatively fast considering the crowd, and we were constantly asked something, if we want some pretzels, if we will drink more. Ok. In the end it seems that the guy either wanted to screw us over or he thought we’ll leave him a tip larger than the bill. I mean what the hell? Still, let’s just call this a misunderstanding and I won’t lower the service rating. Eh, I’d go there again anyway. They are one of the only ones fair enough to offer both a small and a big beer (and theirs are pretty good), the place’s great on the inside too. |
