Iíve only ordered online, and Randy has always done me right. They have been able to hook me up with relatively hard-to-find brews such as the Founderís Breakfast Stout, the 3F Dreadnaught and Black Sun and the Bellís Expedition. Great communication and quick shipping.

Look at the website first. You see some pretty great stuff and you probably expect a great beer/liquor store. Couldnít be further from the truth. First off, this place is in the south side barrio. Itís smaller than a 7/11. Definitely scuzzier. If they had as many six packs as they have Old Style 30ís this place would be amazing. As far as their selection goes itís definitely all listed on the website. Nothing more. Unless you live in the immediate area, order it online. As far as service goes, these kids had no idea what was going on. The store is so small they made me move 7 times while I was there so they could move dollies of Old Style cases around. They gave me a brown lunch bag for like 7 bottles, a few of which were bombers, that almost immediately ripped when I picked it up.

Iíve only ordered from this place I have never been there in person. Randy is very nice to deal with. Three Floyds and Great Lakes are the main reasons I order from this place. Good selections of both not to mention Bells and Goose Island. I recommend this place.

South sideís only true íbeerí store. Small, rotating stock, but lovingly cared for. Encourages breaking six-packs, has all 3F (even a rare stashed big 3F), bells, great lakes, founders. internet sales are efficient. if unusual. stop on Tuesday nights & have an ipromptu sample with Randy

This place is easily the most overrated in Chicago. I was expecting more than three tiny shelves. Still, if youíre near Midway, worth a shot, they will have something new for you to try, be it Two Brothers or 3F or GI. Donít go too far out of your way, but if youíre near midway, go for it.

Convenient for a South-Sider, but Archer Liquors is FIVE MINUTES from Midway Airport... so itís a no-brainer to stop by on the way to your hotel and get something better than Icehouse. The store is a little claustrophobic, but the beer selection was rather diverse. Also a few shelves of items for the homebrewer. Website is fun, with a no-frills, D.I.Y. format (thatís how my sites look and I love it.) The Q-Club is pretty cool... I feel like Iím in a secret society.
(Soft re-rate 12/2006)
As a walk-in customer, Iím starting to get a little annoyed with Archerís service. Every
time I walk up to the register, they have to ring me two or three times because of some stupid error or another. Big cashier-guy with the tribal tattoos should realize that I donít really care
if heís having a bad day. If he has to re-ring my order because of a fuck-up or because the registers are out of date... I
as a customer
am the one getting upset. In the long run, my orders and recommendations (and the orders and recommendations of my peers) are keeping you employed. "Customer Service
". Look it up. Additionally, not only is the floorspace getting overcrowded but their homebrew supplies are either getting stale or being eliminated. (Service -2, Selection -2, Overall -2)

The jewel of the Southwest Side, one might say - thereís really no other place to purchase quality imports or micros on the South Side of Chicago unless you go to Hyde Park or out to the suburbs. That might make this seem like just a default option, but the selection (though not huge) features all the heavy-hitters in American midwest micros youíd like to see: Three Floyds, Bellís, Founderís, Great Lakes; plus excellent national selections such as Victory, Dogfish Head, and Rogue. Fair number of imports - decent selection of Belgians (though nothing exotic), almost all Samuel Smith products (though it would be nice to see some Youngís or other English ales), and a good mix of German beers. Service really only applies when Randyís around, since heís in charge of the beer selection, but heís very helpful and knowledgable from my experience. The website is also very helpful for finding out whatís fresh.
