A stylish new bar in Singaporeís touristy Boat Quay area serving the brewerís new range of beers. At time of writing, these were only available on draught here but they should be bottled by the end of 2006. The spiced beers have been brewed with food pairing in mind, and the menu offers suggestions. More limited edition brews are planned for the future.
Visited on July 8, 2013. Feels like a bar or tap house, donít go there expecting a regular brewpub. Was a fairly easy walk over from Level 33. If walking up Circular Rd going north it will be on your left hand side, just as the road starts to turn left. Didnít offer any kind of samplers, no matter what time or day you visited. Got no help even when asking in my best way to be able to have smaller volumes even when offering to pay gladly what they thought was good for it. Smallest were half pints, so sampled two beers before moving on. Was warm with some open walls, they played fairly loud music. Leather seats donít really help in the heat. Outdoor seating available for smokers. A bit funky toilets to the side with a wash basin/sink outside. WiFi available with a password if you asked. OK place to visit to sample the beers, but wouldíve been better had I not been by myself so I couldíve sampled more in the short time I was in the city. Seems to be a decent place to hang if you have some time to just lazy away in the city and want nice beers to go along with it. Didnít eat, not sure you can. Service was fast when ordering a beer, paying with a card was no problem by the beer either. Plenty of cars in the street, so parking should be OK if youíre the designated driver, though walking there wasnít a problem.
Cozy pub located the the "downtown" area". There are 5-6 beers on tap but nothing spectacular. Sevice was friendly but could have been a bit better. Looks like they might have decent pub grub but didnít stop in to eat. The beers were decent for a local brewpub. Might have to try again when I have more time.
Really good efforts in the decor to provide a cosy pub environment, pity the service and the beers dont match up. beer quality have dropped since Fel left, it is no longer as innovative. it is obvious they are pushing to be more commercial, becoming more like Tiger beer..
Reminded me of the San Francisco Brewing Company, situated on a corner, open concept, fans on the ceiling, colonial Straits decor, fake books add a nice touch. Beers are OK, the Summer Ale was good. 12S$ for a lunch set on weekdays. Free small samples offered (no samplers offered), but beers are pricey. 12$ for a pint.
No way youíd come here if it wasnít for their own beers (and even then?). Good central location although slap bang in what appears to be Singaporeís hooker district. Really just a non-descript bar but opens up nicely onto the street and makes for decent ambience given the weather. 4 taps of their own beer on the go at around $13 for a 300ml pour!
2009: Visited on a friday evening during an 8hr layover in Singapore, right after visiting Brewerkz, which is a 10min walk from here. Nice open bar in an area filled with bars and restaurants. Dark interior, looks very stylish and classy, soft music in the background (although I donít think R&B fits tasting beer). We had tasters of all 6 beers from tap for S$20,-, which is about Ä10,- or US$15. Really interesting beers, good flavours and definitely a lot more adventurous than the Brewerkz range. I had no food here, but what I saw on the plates of others looked promising. Re-rate after visiting again in 2012: This place, which is actually called The Straits, looks a bit run-down, there are 8 taps but only 4 of them their own beers, which are way less adventurous as their previous brews, and no more tasters available, which is a shame in a country where beer is so bloody expensive and beers so mediocre. Rating goes down significantly. 72 --> 54

Perhaps the best beers in the city, Archipelago serves up a tasty, diverse range of brews here. It can get busy on a weekend night but I had no trouble getting a seat at the bar, and the staff are well accommodating. A real nice place to kick back and have a few beers and friendly people around. Iíd be here often if I lived in the city. ***UPDATE July 2012. Wow this place has really gone to shit. Now just known as the Straits Bar. They do have 4 Archipelago beers still on tap - Wit, Summer, Irish & Lager. We couldnít finish the beers they were that bad. Horrible. A shame the old brewer has left and the quality has gone with him.
Right next to one of the main tourist streets in SP, this place is on a corner with a large bar and old disused brewery-equipment. The beers are fresh and really tasty. The IPA delivers hops to homesick palates and the quirkier spiced ales work surprisingly well. Food is greasy (as it should be) and portions are large. Staff is courteous if a little on the green side.
The actual brewery is not on this site, itís apparently in the outskirts of the town, however, this is one of their main outlets.
A favourite Iíll come back to. Much better ambience than Brewerkz.
