A great pub to stop by when visiting the Waterbury beer establishments. The bartender was excellent and friendly patrons at the bar too so a few bonus points for that. The taplist is not as impressive as PP and Reservoir but still pretty damn tidy with local brews. This was the only bar I found cans of Focal Banger available so enjoyed a couple of those. I didnít eat but it looked a popular place for a meal. I enjoyed my time here.

Stopped in for lunch on a Thursday since Pro Pig was closed for lunch that day. Food was decent and well priced. Staff was attentive. The tap list had maybe 12 items, some Zero Gravity, Long Trail, Heady Topper, etc. Not a bad little place, but unfortunately it wins a bronze medal on a block with Resevoir and Prohibition Pig.

When I visited: Late May 2013.
What I had: Lost Nation Gose and Long Trail Brewmaster Series Double IPA on tap, tortilla chips and guacamole dip, Clifford Bay Sauvignon Blanc for my partner.
What I liked: Laidback pub-meets-sports-bar vibe, respectable draught and bottle line-ups, good wine options, awesome patio overlooking Main Street, cordial and attractive waitress, tasty appetizer.
What I disliked: Had to walk inside to see the tap list as there was no printed draught menu, bartender was less than welcoming, not a full-on beer bar like the other, better-known pubs in Waterbury.
Would I go back? Most likely.
Overall Rating: 74

Only place open at noon to grab a beer in the immediate area. Was pretty busy with a lunch crowd, but plenty of seats open at the bar. Decent selection of craft beer. Bartender was very nice. Overall was a nice place to kick off my trip.

Ended up in here when everything else in town was closed (at lunchtime on a weekday). Wasnít expecting much, but turned out that it was a great spot. Kinda "good time oldies" look inside, but with a dozen interesting taps (including DFH Burton Baton and Noble Rot) and some solid simple food I had a great lunch.

Stopped in last week after playing frisbee golf in Waterbury Center.
Great bottle list for a place that doesnít seem focused on "The Beer," at least not in appearances. Draft list was kinda wanky though. Settled on a pint of Rock Art Ridge Runner, not a typical call for me, but seemed to be the best thing on. Ordered the Salmon Burger. It was a bit overcooked (dry), but not bad.
Server was funny, food was ok (not great), and my beer was served properly.
Not a bad joint, but not really a beer destination. Itís really not bad, but itís really not great, either. Sorry mates.

Stopped in for a quick lunch with the family. Nice little bar and restaurant that has a decent beer selection - small but decent.

Nice resturant next door to the Alchemist, Good place for a simple Sunday brunch, Ok beer selection. Nothing really wrong with it, the older & less beer savy crowd seems to enjoy it. Like I said to start with, The Alchemist is next door, point made.

Hmm, surprised this place hadnít been listed. Well, it DOES have a pretty big and interesting beer list -- for Vermont -- but really itís not worth your time unless, like those worthy Montrealites whose reviews lie below mine, you just donít want to wait for the Alchemist. Some decent local beers including occasional seasonals/specials from Otter Creek & Long Trail, but really mediocre food and ridiculous prices for fairly standard, common imports make this a skippable choice.

Practically next to the Alchemist, we went there to eat because there was a monster lineup at the brewpub. Family style restaurant with a bar. Decent service. Bottle list has no prices, some of the bigger bottles and imports have an asterisk next to them, with a note saying Youíll probably need to take a loan to pay for this Beer. Chimay, a few decent micros and plenty of imported crap. Tap list includes a few Vermont locals like Magic hat and Long Trail. My pint of Harpoon IPA tasted a little stale. My pulled pork plate was okay at best, and a bit pricey. Next time weíll endure the lineup next door.
