It is basically a liquor shop with a good beer selection(for Japan) near Motonaka station on the Eizan line. The staff pretty much ignored me and let me do my thing, it is clean and well organized but most of the shop hard liquor not beer. They used to have a pub called The Flying Keg which closed now it is just the liquor shop. Behind the counter is a huge display of beers... unfortunately, they aren’t for sale. They seem to specialize in belgian beers & have many I haven’t seen elsewhere but most appeared to be under 8%(whites, blondes, browns, doubles & tripels) so stylistically a bit limited. I didn’t see any rareties and few lambics, they only had one bottle of Cantillon & a few geuzes. When I went I didn’t see any Mikkeller... but they had some German, Austrian, French, Scottish & American beers. The only Japanese micros were the majors, Coedo, Yo-ho Brewing, a few Hitachino Nests so maybe a dozen in all. It is a decent place but not worth a special trip. Maybe it has gone downhill since the previous reviews? Or maybe our options have grown so it doesn’t compare so favorably anymore. I think if you want Japanese beers in Kyoto go to Yamaoka, Belgians visit Inoue & European beers go to Asao.

Post-war style family liquor shop wih about 100 different beers. As Hellonasty wrote, probably the best Belgian selection in Kyoto at the moment. Lots of stuff you don’t see around, though nothing really special to my eye. He seems to be working with the various import companies available in the country. Prices average for here. Some Germans I haven’t seen around as well, plus 5-10 ji-beer. Close to home, so i’ll be there regularly.

Probably the best selection of bottled belgian beers in Kyoto. Also some other European and British beers. Prices are normal for Kyoto, and the owner is very friendly.
