(Visited 06/2015): Asheville Brewing is located in the heart of Asheville on Coxe Ave. Street parking is available in the immediate area.

The brick building has a large covered patio facing the street. Inside opens to some high table seating in the bar area, with table seating beyond. The bar runs along the left side. Eclectic decor on the walls including pictures, artwork and the like. There is a board behind the bar listing the beers available.

Asheville Brewing has around 15 beers on tap, and a sampler flight is available. On my visit the selections ranged form a few IPAs, Space Dog Wheat Ale, Red Light APA, Fire Escape, and a collaboration beer with Catawba Island/Green Man/Burial. The beers were average to decent, with nothing really standing out either way.

Service on an early weekday afternoon in the bar area was pretty good. The bartender was knowledgeable and friendly.

We did not have food on our visit, but the pizzas looked good.

Overall the quality of the beers here isn’t on the level of the other breweries in the immediate area (the consensus during the visit was the beers were pretty mediocre, and retrospectively we visited several breweries that put ABC to shame). Still I can respect the history of this place and would visit again on a future trip, it just wouldn’t be near the top of the list.

This place did not make the cut on beer trip, but became a last minute fill in for dinner when Ben’s was closed for cleaning. Jam packed with families at 530 on a Monday, we managed to squeeze into the last two seats at the bar. Cute, young bartender (she seriously looked 15) was knowledgeable about beer and answered my questions, even gave a good suggestion. Pizza was good, but not outstanding. Really loud in there, and beer was generally average. In retrospect, probably least favorite place, but that says more about Asheville than the ABC

Had dinner and a flight here in May 2015. Good service. Sat outdoors and watched an eclectic crowed, from hipsters to retirees and families with small kids. Worth a stop if you’ve been to several other breweries first.

On the generic side as far as the place and beer is concerned. Not bad, just not the top quality in town. Pizza and wings were fantastic, though. I’d go again just for those.

Good brewpub! Good service, good (but not stellar) beers (perfect day IPA and the black IPA stood out as best), tasty pizza. Big selection of their beers too; ~15. Pretty good value. Kid-friendly. Not my absolute favorite place to eat in Asheville, but would come back.

This would be a very good brewery & restaurant in an area with less competition...but in Asheville the competition is numerous with a bar that keeps rising (good for the craftbeer fan of course). I have to say that given that, Asheville Brewing does not stand out as much for the craftbeer traveler visiting Asheville. They have a good selection of beers...no less than 15 when I visited recently. This should probably be a place you checkout on maybe your 3rd visit to Asheville...too many others rank higher.

I didn’t get the diner feel that others claim, but the pub was cozy and friendly. Had a flight of beers as we moved down Coxe Avenue which were very good. Service was quick, but we were here in the early afternoon. Still, a nice stop.

Stopped by here after dinner. Inside reminds me of a typical pizza parlor. Outside area is industrial, and very cool. Tables, games, etc. Lots of fun. Service away from bar is a little slow, but nothing to be too shocked about compared to most places. They had some solid beers on tap, which was nice. Samplers are affordable.

We were early for the Funkatorium tour so we stopped here for a small bite and a flight. The simple-diner decorated brewpub offers indoor/outdoor seating. Draft beers were listed on the chalkboards, I believe 15 or so offerings. The beers were average overall, the shared appetizer was pretty good. Service was friendly, overall a decent stop but nothing too exciting.

I actually visited this place on the night of July 3rd. We had open air seating outdoors with pigeons above in the rafters. They did not have many brews on the menu. The board was current, but the menu wasn’t.
