52 AMBIANCE 2/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 8/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 4/10 OVERALL 10/20 Braudog (655) Hampton, Virginia | August 22, 2011 August 2011. In a wooded setting on the outskirts of the Bar Harbor/Acadia area, this place has a unique set-up for a brewery, with emphasis on a gift shop. They do offer a wide array of beers and glassware from places across the area. A small BBQ joint is connected and offers the beers on tap. The food smelled good, but we didn’t eat. The beers were nothing to write home about, but good enough to hit the spot after a long drive to the island. | 68 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 9/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 14/20 MartinT (521) Montreal, Quebec | August 10, 2006 A picturesque white country house out front shields the brewery, gift shop, and smokehouse set out back. You can find all of Atlantic’s brews in the bottle shop (including their specials, like the Foonf Zane Auld Ale when I was there), and during summer they will give you a free tasting of all their beers and sodas when there is enough people in the shop (which is pretty often I guess). This is NOT in downtown Bar Harbor, their address is pretty misleading. It is actually in the hamlet of Town Hill, which is still on Mount Desert Island but a few miles away from Bar Harbor. Their beers are served on tap in the smokehouse out back as well, but you can also get them in BHarbor at Lompoc Café. A fun brewery with no pretention to greatness, imho. | 76 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 14/20 adnielsen (325) Fort Collins, Colorado | October 22, 2010 Kind of a cool brewery to visit with some good beers. Recommended | 60 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 3/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 13/20 lushawn (227) Massachusetts | July 28, 2012 Mainely meats bbq and atlantic brewing beers. Outdoor patio. Free brewery tours. Gift shop. Sausage was good from the meats platter, but we were starving after climbing so many mountains. Service was quite slow. Beer was okay. Not a bad place. Nice stop after a hike. | 58 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 7/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 13/20 TURDFERGUSON (147) Carrboro, North Carolina | August 15, 2011 Vistited here with some longtime family friends during a Maine vacation with my folks last year. Beers were meh as expected. I have had my share of this breweries offerings during my time in Amherst. Food was pretty good, I got a bbq sandwich which was pretty tasty. | 74 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 15/20 LadySusan (99) Ste-Therese, Quebec | August 28, 2007 This place was a bit of a surprise, it is off the main road. The atmosphere is friendly and family friendly to. The food is meat, meat, meat, but very good.the beer selection was good and you can buy all of their products at the boutique. | 72 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 9/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 16/20 MaBeer1972 (71) Taunton, Massachusetts | September 17, 2011 Located outside of Bar Harbor on the north side, down a gravel road. A small bar and indoor area with several long tables, and several tables outside under cover. The BBQ is quite good. Beer selection is OK. I got an IPA and my wife the Blueberry. Good service. | 74 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 15/20 porterhouse (68) Boothbay Harbor, Maine | July 17, 2006 Didn’t have time to do the tour but I did get a sampling of 7 of their beers (incl. the Bragett!) and a couple of sodas. Guide was pretty knowledgeable but definitely tried to keep things moving. I talked to him a bit afterwards and he was able to answer my questions. All their bottled beer is for sale there as well as some drafts at their little smokehouse restaurant. This place is really set up for the tourists - they actually have small buses from downtown Bar Harbor that bring people in. I’m kind of disappointed that they’re in agreement with Shipyard to have some of their stuff produced and distributed from Portland now, but I guess it’s a business. I can’t believe how many states they’re now available in and I’m sure it’s because of Shipyard. |
