86 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 17/20
Note that there used to be a restaurant here, which is why some the earlier reviews mention food. Itís now literally just a bar set up in the middle of the brewery (no food or anything). I actually think itís kind of charming in a way. You drinking beers literally in the shadow of the machines that made them. Bartender is really great and really knowledgeable about their beer. Probably my favorite brewery in Detroit. Just make sure you eat before you come.

Downtown near the river. Much nicer on the inside than you might expect. Good draft selections with good happy hour prices. Food is o.k.

January 2010. Visited mid-afternoon on a Saturday in January ... I think there were 6 other customers. The restaurant space is actually pretty nice, with a big fireplace (not being used) way at the end, and a nice overlook into the cavernous brewery. The bartender was Johnny on the Spot and the food was downright yummy. They had a couple brews on tap that Iíd never seen before, along with a couple of their standards. Overall, definitely worth the stop. (Brewery #490)

Farily decent selection of brews and nice atmosphere. Iím yet to test it in the evenings. Staff is friendly but the menu could do with an upgrade. Worth a look in my opinion.

Striking as one walks in. The brewery is behind large glass windows behind the long bar. Donít look to close at the brewery though, you will see it is big & DIRTY. If you get a rare tour you will see a film of mold on the conditioning tanks & fermenters. The service is very uneven though friendly. they may not know the specials or soups of the day. The food too can range from tasty too cold depending on if the chef is present. THE KITCHEN CLOSES VERY EARLY-- 8PM OR SO EVEN ON FRIDAYS so call ahead! It is not uncommon for your car to be vandalized in their parking lot. YOU WILL HAVE A WAY BETTER TIME AT DETROIT BEER CO.
PS: The "pint" glasses are ONLY OUNCES!! What a ripoff!!
