A popular place for very young people to go out. Therefore, if you’re there just for beers, afternoons are recommended. Wide selection of German beers, mostly macros, but some seem to be hard to find otherwise. Decent prices. Efficient service. Cool environment, lot of antique breweriana.
Has the look of a student bar only it is clean and not very cheap. Located in the tourist area of east Berlin. nice selection of bottled beer, nothing unusual except that apart from the Momsen Eck there is no comparable choice. Friendly and young place, worth checking out.
Has collection of beers from a lot of countries but no special or real interesting stuff. Food is kinda plain but ok value. Service is mostly ok during the day... This night, though, a guy behind the bar complained to me that I spoke English to him instead of first asking if he spoke English. His English was fine - his attitude wasn’t. All in all I recommend going to one of Berlin’s brewpubs.
Decent beer pub with good selection on bottles. Food is quite general but their goulash works every time for little money. As already mentioned below quite touristy, but drop in few hours before 19 o’clock and you’ll have all the space for your beer tasting. The prices are not expensive, but very affordable for locals like me. Service can be pain in the ass in the evenings, when it gets busy.
Great pub in Mitte Berlin. Lots of bottles, with specials,, like for this season christmas beers from a.o. Belguim. One tap (heineken), strange enough. I think about 200 different beers. Can be very busy, there’s a guard/porter letting you in. Departed more or less in two parts, where at the left a lot of people enjoyed the food. we didn’t though becauwe of other plans. Good atmosphere.
To repeat previous reviews: great location, you can’t miss it. As its on Oranienburger Str you sit outside on the benches watching Berlin go by. Very pleasent. Service was friendly and prompt, the beers we had their were served in the correct glassware for the style. Has a really attractive laidback vibe to it, in keeping with the area. The beer menu was retricted to bottles (only Heineken on tap), which knocks down a few points in my opinion. The strongest point here is the German bottle selection. There are about a dozen choices in the Hefe weizen Hell/Kristall/dunkels and about 7 - 8 in most other catogries. The menu has a good ’specialties’ section where I found Engel’s Keller bier in both Hell and Dunkel varities amoungst other unusual brews. Amoungst the european beers it has about half a dozen Austrian beers as well as Belgians etc. As with most places in Berlin compared to UK prices it wasn’t expensive - about 3 euro a bottle, less that you’d pay in an uk supermarket. A great place to go to because it’ll keep both the beer geeks and the regular tourists in your party happy! Oh, and on the hookers front - there are ALOT less ladies of the night on Or. Str. than when I was here in 2000. Back the we nicknamed it ’Hooky Street’!
Probably no beers here that are unique to you or extra special. But as far as German beer goes, the beers here are as good as any other place. But you are not just here for the Beer. Aufsturz is on Oranienbergerstrasse which is a site to see if you are visiting Berlin. Don’t waste your time and go to this bar during the day> Try to go on a Friday or Saturday and just enjoy the ambiance. Great place on a great street. Gorgeous working girls and drunk Brits just add to the overall character of one of the greatest streets in the world. One of the reviews says "this section of the city gets a little dicey at night." Ha! Yea, it does get a little scary if your Mom still needs to accompany you to the bathroom at Denny’s. But for the rest of us it is incredibly safe and totally fun.
