| 84 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 17/20 MikeKeller (9) Kemi Rock City, Finland | May 5, 2013 Went here for a few Augustiner brews. Inexpensive place to try them. Nice looking place inside (and outside too). The staff were sharp, right on time asking would we like to have more beers. Food looked good too but we weren’t hungry at the time. | 84 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD 10/10 VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 18/20 b727trijet (150) Isleworth, England | May 3, 2013 Probably the most traditional of all the brewery taps. Augustiner beers are among the best in Munich and always a good choice here of their regular brews and seasonal including their fantastic Maximator doppelbock. Often busy, one often has to squeeze onto a table already occupied by locals who are very amenable. Food is as good as their exceptional beers. The map here is misleading as I have always entered from Landsberger Strasse. I much prefer this Augustiner venue than the tourist trap on Neuhauser Strasse especially as you are more likely to find a seasonal beer here. I think the rating before mine refers to their Augustiner Am Platz branch which offers far less choice beer wise. Although Ratebeer has this as a restaurant you are welcome to just drink so please do not let that put you off coming! | 70 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 7/15 FOOD 6/10 VALUE 5/10 OVERALL 17/20 geauxT (34) Virginia | July 29, 2012 Great Augustiner beer right by the Hobrauhaus; ate a light lunch and a couple of Helles. Was quiet and cozy; very different than its famous neighbor across the street | 68 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 9/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 13/20 YULbier (250) Montreal, | July 11, 2012 Traditional beerhall with a somehow modern feel to it: opened kitchen, high ceilings, brick walls. Small terrasse on top of the building. Helles served from a wooden barrel at dinner time. Good ambiance. Nice place. | 72 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 4/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 16/20 Gio82 (16) Berlin, Germany | April 18, 2012 Typical Bierhalle, with typical and excellent Augustiner beer. Had a ton of Leberwurst with two Edelstoff in the afternoon and Bauernschmaus with two Dunkel for dinner. The portions were abundant and tasty, unfortunately the waiters were quite unfriendly and the whole hall smelled like urine. | 76 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 17/20 fdomig (15) Feldkirch, Austria | April 6, 2012 Great place to get Bavarian food and all the Augustiner beers on tap. Prices are ery moderate and portions are hughe. | 72 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 8/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 16/20 BlackHaddock (228) , England | March 29, 2012 This is the bar I tend to stagger too, after an afternoon at the O’fest, it is just a few long steps from the top of the Fest Site.
This year was no different, as yet again (26th Sept 2006) I returned to check it out.
Friendly, busy and fine Augustiner beers (are there any other sort?) combine to make this a very likeable place.
Waiter service or served at the bar, no problems, although a bit of German helps when out of the normal tourist areas.
Pleasant decor, not overstated, but very Bavarian. Well worth finding while visiting this wonderful city.
| 80 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 17/20 SamGamgee (182) down the whirlpool, California | December 19, 2011 My favorite Augustiner hall. Had several good sessions here while in town. Just down the street from the central train station. One big hall with giant wooden barrels on the walls and a copper brew kettle top over the bar. Has the full range of Augustiner beer at better prices than anywhere else in town. Something like 5.1 euro for a mass of helles. They also have a more intimate restaurant on the other side of the entrance if you don’t want to hang in the hall. Much darker at night than Hofbräuhaus and has a more old-school feel to it because of that. Worth a stop if you dig their beer. |
