Good ambiance and near of hofbanhof station, the beer is so good but only Augustiner

Many years since Ive visited but looking through old pictures from the trip brought back great memories. The food was great (best pretzels ive ever had) and the beer was awesome! Feels a little more authentic and less touristy than the Hofbrauhaus. I really loved the outdoor seating in a courtyard like setting!

I stayed in Munich for two nights and I chose to visit this place the first night I was there. Rainy October night so we sat inside. Nice place, quiet that night. The food was so and so but I enjoyed their Dunkel

Great place ... During my visit the weather was bad and it was raining so we couldn’t stay out , but we enjoyed our edelstoff from the woodbarrel in the Keller and we can’t complain about it .. Near the main rail station is easy to find and reach from the city centre ..

One of the the best beer gardens in the world; huge; great Augustiner Edelstoff in the barrel; did not eat; but food looked tasty; within walking distance from the train station;

Huge, huge place (seats 5000+?!) with Edelstoff from the Holzfass and basic Selbstbedienung food setup. A real mixed crowd notably lacking in the brazen tourist hordes, and an easy walk from the Hbf -- something close to essential on a Munich trip, even if I don’t really go for Augustiner.

Had my first beer in Munich here: right off the train, 37 degrees, mass of Edelstoff. Wonderful. Not a huge selection, but a lovely place with excellent beer from the wooden barrels.

Absolutely massive biergarten, coupled with a very big bierkeller, which is full of intricately brickworked catacombs. Great Augustiner beer, served in 1 liter steins. Lovely.

The presence of old chestnut trees and its proximity to the Hauptbahnhof make this a wonderful stop on a warm Munich afternoon. Of course, the presence of Edelstoff doesn’t hurt, either! I’ve also visited in winter, and, while not sure if I would want to spend an evening in the cavernous old underground keller, have enjoyed visiting. The ground floor is much airier, and is my choice if indoors it must be.

My first beer in Germany when going to munich for brewing school was outside n the patio here. A mass of Edelstoff. There were a few drunk locals making cracks about the Americans drinking their beer (this was a chilly November afternoon) but the place was pretty mellow. The beer selection is smaller here than at the Braustuben and also more expensive. Good for sitting outside but for a cold night, the Braustuben, just down the street, is my preferred Augustiner hall.
