It was Mardi Gras, and the bar was open 24 hours a day for the week, so understandably it was a little dirty when I went at 2am, and the upstairs was not open. Otherwise, nice old school pub vibe with lots of wood and nothing too cluttered. Service was a little sub par, but again I would imagine they had all been there for a while at that point. I got more knowledge from the cook and a guy sitting next to me than the bartenders. Selection was pretty awesome, a lot of rare stuff and stuff you canít get anywhere else, including a pilsener brewed solely for Avenue Pub (unfortunately I did not get to try it). Food was decent, pub grub with a slightly modern feel, but still greasy and really only good if youíre drunk. Beers were a little pricey, but again probably due to the fact that they could only do 16oz plastic cups during Mardi Gras. Great place to find good beer compared to the rest of New Orleans, though. Definitely want to try and head back again. Update: went for Zwanze day and I could not be more impressed with service and the selection. Awesome place.

Visited downstairs bar only on a slow Monday afternoon. Staff was dealing with an internet outage but was still incredibly friendly and attentive. Nice selection of local beers and interesting styles. Look forward to visiting again.

First stop of the afternoon. Pretty quiet midday Monday, which was fine by me. I was presented a full beer list upon sitting at the bar. The upstairs bar didnt open til 5PM on Monday, so no review of that is included. Downstairs bar had a four page taplist, Lots of unusual stuff, but nothing really jumped out at me, and a lot of the imports were pretty lowly rated stuff. MS/LA locals were solidly represented though. Longish bar to the left upon entering, some tables on the right. Others have said most of the rest. Flights of three available, forgot the price. Solid place, quite likely the best in New Orleans, but a ways from world class.

Definitely the best beer bar I have been to in New Orleans. Rotating taps downstairs and upstairs at each bar. Nice balcony next to the upstairs bar so you can hang outside and drink. Great selection of beer and many locals included. Staff is helpful and friendly. Moderately priced and good enough location. I didnít try the food so I canít comment on that.

Very nice. Big rotating beer menu was presented right when we arrived. Server knew her beer there were dizzying selections including sours. Only had time to sample a couple beers no food. Not very big or nice inside.

This was the highlight of my last trip to New Orleans, at least beer wise. Great beer selection, and if you donít find what you want from among the 40 taps downstairs, there is a seperate bar upstairs with more to choose from. I started at the downstairs bar and then moved upstairs to sit on the patio while trying a few more beers. Nice atmosphere, friendly servers, and good prices. Didnít try the food.

Best beer bar in New Orleans. Incidentally, also an awesome place from which to watch parades on Lundi Gras. Top-notch beer selection. Chill atmosphere. Terrific staff -- just genuinely nice people. Iíve been to New Orleans twice; Iíve been here three times. Take from that what you will.

In New Orleans, this beer bar is pretty much as good as it gets for beer. The selection is quite vast. The ambiance is casual and unpretentious. The bartenders are chill. The bar food is good enough.
This place reminds me a lot of Maxís Taphouse in Baltimore. At first glance, it looks like a normal sports bar, but upon any inspection of the tap list, you realize it is something much, much more than that. The draft selection is by itself pretty great, but for those who like looking at bottles, I am sure you will find some gueuze or sour that strikes your fancy. The beers are also very reasonably priced. Unlike New York, DC, or Philadelphia that serve tiny snifters of the high-end stuff for $10-$14 dollars, here a 6 ounce pour of an Italian gose was a mere $6.
Fortunately, this bar also has a wonderful selection of local beers.
We ordered some onion rings. They appeared to have been home-made and not frozen, which has ups and downs to it, but all in all is a big plus.
The crowd was pretty nice, except there was an extremely drunk girl causing problems and a bunch of homeless people outside trying to hit you up for money (or trying to sell a dubiously acquired bicycle). But, I canít blame the bar for that. The bartenders were also willing to call a cab for people who didnít want to wade through the rabble.

Visited on New Yearís eve on our trip to New Orleans. Old school pub like environment with a downstairs bar with over 40 taps, seats outside, upstairs bar with 9 taps and a patio. Sat at the bar and had great selection to choose from. Once you start a tab you could get a beer from the bottom or upstairs bar. The staff was very knowledgeable and fun to talk with during our 3 hours there. A great list that was accurate and up to date. The bottle list was pretty good and not overpriced for some the more rare bottles. The food looked good but we didnít try so donít want to rate it here. The prices were great and overall a great beer destination in New Orleans. A must visit beer bar. Cheers!
