Sat at the bar and the service was good. Tried a few beers. The place wasn’t that crowded for being past 8, but it really wasn’t tourist season. Much better to visit when the weather is nice.

A nice bar, and with good food on previous visits. Ayinger beer is very good and this is fine place to drink it as it has most of the varieties available, and a nice atmosphere.

Nice place as you find similar in munich all around, with wood panels on the wall etc. Service was swift, professional and friendly BUT an non acceptable way of pouring their beers, a total NO GO! Therefore negative effects on the overall score.
Beer selection is good and their food, too. The value was okish - Munich is in general expensive. And overall, as given above...

One of the cosiest beer places in Munich! Much more a restaurant than the other beer houses in Munich, but still very traditional and laid-back. Fortunately also quieter than others, because this isn’t a real tourist hotspot as the famous (and extremely loud and crowded) Hofbräuhaus is right across the street and the Hard Rock Cafe is also nearby. The staff propably is the friendliest I have experienced at my many visits in Munich! If you get a seat at the window (which I did one time) you have a great sight over one of the most beautiful squares in Munich while you can enjoy the really excellent food. As far as I could see, they almost have all Ayinger beers on tap including seasonals - Celebrator from tap, outstanding! A must visit in Munich, almost perfect!

Great spot. Very good service with an on-the-ball host. Low key vibes. Highly attractive interior. Outstanding beers. OK value. I highly recommend this place. Much better than the other big name places around Marienplatz. A must-visit.

Visited September 2012.
This was the last stop of the day and I’ll admit that I was feeling pretty good after having stopped at several bierstubbes and bierkellers on the way over here. Actually the real purpose was to visit the real Hofbrauhaus which as it turns out is right across the street (literally). Also, when we got in here they were just shutting down and turning away new customers, many of whom were fat American tourists in town for Oktoberfest. So why did they let me stay and why did they feed me? I dont know. I’m fat, I’m American, I’m obnoxious, and I had been drinking. I guess being fluent in both Deutsche and English makes me a bit of a novelty, especially when I switch from English to German mid sentence. I think they’re mostly confused by the lack of an American accent in my German. What ever the case may be they were happy to serve us until the wee hours of the morning and even fire up the stove and make us some dinner. Had a great conversation with the bartender, ate well, and bought a souvenir Oktoberfest mug to go. Over all I had a great time here and would go back in a heartbeat.

A classy establishment close to the rowdier Hofbrauhaus. Very much geared towards locals or smaller groups. The Kellerbier was excellent but regretably the doppelbock wasn’t available.

Bierhalle over the road from Hofbrauhaus. Not worth trying to get in to if you are a big squad. They ’don’t accept groups’. This is something the well dressed patron informed me of when it looked like our ranks were sweling beyond 3. The place is very nice and far more sedate than it’s roudy neighbour across the street. The atmosphere is more reserved and designed more for locals than tourists. They rotate their beers seasonally (German style) and regrettably had no Marzen or Doppelbock when I was there. The Kellerbier was delicious though. The food looked magnificent but all I had to eat was the pretzels. Well worth a stop.

Nice restaurant across the street from Hofbräuhaus. Go here instead, much more pleasant, less noisy and smaller place. Ayinger beers served fresh from tap. Really tasty food also. Staff is efficient and nice. Went here total 3 times in my six days of München.
