Grande sťlection, succulentes et massives pizzas. Malheureusement pas de ííhalf pouríí ou de íítaster flightíí, ici cíest les pintes et les coulisses de gras qui rŤgnent.

Visited during lunch hours on GABF week. Pretty crowded but not too much. Helpful and very knowledgeable staff, the owner sat at the bar and had som beers with us, great guy. Selection is huge, both on tap and bottles, impressive. Had a cheese steak and completely loved it. One of the best beer bars I have ever attended. Highly recommended.

I travel for a living, and I can say confidently that it is virtually impossible to find a place with a beer selection even comparable to Backcountry. With 67 taps, you would think that some of the selection is potentially hit-or-miss beers. No. John Fayman (publican) rarely serves mediocre beer - and when he does, itís because heís taking a chance on a product that sounds awesome from one of the more respectable brands, whether local or out-of-state. He also has the chance to represent local brands with great pride - he gets the rarest Crooked Stave stuff, and regularly pours beers that he knows are good from the new breweries; he tastes them first. Beyond that, just take a gander at their draft list on Facebook - and peek at this list here. His bottle list is there just in case you want to go nuts and ball out, otherwise the draft list will keep any daily craft beer drinker quite occupied. I know because I used to go here every day when I lived in Boulder, and I almost couldnít keep up. Anyone who thinks the beer selection is merely "good for the area" or plain "good" is just ignorant. Iíve visited top beer bars all over the world, especially in the US and Europe, just trying to find somewhere that out-does what BCP has to offer, and it is truly unmatched. The food is fantastic, by the way, starting of course with the pizza (they offer slices for those thrifty folk who want a simple meal), but there are also daily specials, rarely exceeding $15/entree, and there is always one under $10. Chef Anthony Lopiccolo has a smoker out back, and now offers specials prepared in that baby. He makes killer smoked meats, poutine-style appetizers, soups, and actually has an unbelievable knack for Asian-inspired dishes whenever he offers one. It is a very spacious building with two patios, a large bar area, and a family-friendly dining area separate from the bar. There is also a game room with a pool table, choice pinball machines, and they recently added a Big Buck HD machine (letís GO). I honestly think that the reason this place hasnít blown up is because itís kind of under the commercial radar, and itís fairly new in terms of anywhere like it, and itís tucked in a cozy town like Boulder. Mind you, this is a huge plus. All things considered, itís the worldís best beer bar. The only place Iíve been to thatís this cool is Akkurat, and even there youíre gonna get ripped off on a bottle like you would at Moeder Lambic; it has a tourist-y edge. At Backcountry, they just do what they do, and they do it so damn well while making you feel like you belong (and you do).

One of the best beer selections in the area! Large number of Colorado and regional beers with more then enough out of state to keep it interesting! Taps rotate pretty regularly, and many of the beers are hard to find in Colorado. Service is good, and the pizza is solid! Great place to grab beer if your in Boulder!

Amazing beer on tap! Never anything crappy on tap, all unique specialty brews that are hard to find anywhere else. Food is good. Most of the time it has been great but every once in awhile itís so-so. Mostly pretty good though. Service has gone up, the staff is much more informed from when they first opened and quite helpful. The building itself is laid out badly for a taphouse. There are lots of rooms, itís set up more like a ífine diningí restaurant than a taphouse. A few walls need to be knocked down and the bar extended. The place should be more open and centered around the bar rather than a maze of rooms that no one wants to be in. Overall, outstanding beers. Good food. Good service. Best beer bar in the state.

Last stop of night one in Boulder. Large bar area in front and plenty of restaurant space in the rear. They were having some special events, so hard to judge the taplist, but if the kind of beers yet had for the events were any indication, Iíd say a solid taplist. Food is typical pizza joint fare. Ordered a calzone which was quite good. Service was pretty good as well. Definitely a place to hit when in Boulder.

Visited October 7, 2013 with 3fourths and womencantsail.

This is a very large set up. Multiple dinning rooms and a bar area. We were given a table in one of the dining rooms, right in front of the big TV during Monday night football so some annoying Jets fan was yelling every time the waitress walked by our table. They had just done a sour beer event the day before so they still had a lot of interesting sour beers on tap. They donít do flights or samples but you can ask for a couple of tastes to help decide what you want. The service was friendly though we didnít ask too many questions about the beer so I canít comment on their knowledge. The calzone I ordered was good though I probably could have put more effort into the choosing the ingredients.

Large restaurant with a large bar. Good tap list and extensive bottle list, including many rare beers. Draft prices are reasonable and bottle prices are expectedly steep. Service was alright.

Visited with two friends on October 8, 2012. I didnít eat, but my two friends did and they enjoyed it. Service at the bar was great, service to the table was not good. Big selection of draught beers, nice place, I could go back for sure.
