62 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 8/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 10/10 OVERALL 8/20 iguanodon (1) Bountiful, Utah | June 15, 2013 Small bar with 30 taps. Mostly local.stuff, some great. I love that they offer different size pours, 4, 10, 16, or 20 oz. depending on the brew, great for trying a few. | 96 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 19/20 dinkle50 (59) Chicago, Illinois | May 29, 2013 Loved this place so much we ended up going twice on our visit to Portland. Excellent selection of beers and great prices. Bartenders are cool and the place never got so packed I couldn’t move. I’ll be back. | 90 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 18/20 Clembo1957 (44) Smethwick, England | April 19, 2013 Great selection of beers,Bailey’s deserves its reputation. Great bar | 96 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 15/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 19/20 fluffheady (60) Chicago, Illinois | March 30, 2013 Bailey’s is ridiculous. Their beer menu is wonderful. It’s digital and includes keg levels. (Look it up. It was on the cover of beer advocate). They are an after-work place, and they close rather early. The space is a little awkward, but I hear they’re expanding. GO HERE. | 92 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 15/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 18/20 rickhall28 (140) Denville, New Jersey | March 11, 2013 This is a must visit while touring the Portland craftbeer scene. I love the electronic beer signs...especially when they show details like when tapped and how much left. I suppose this will be "old hat" in a year or two...but still enjoying it. Nice setup...great staff. The best part though is the selection...especially of local and greater Oregon beers. If you don’t have time to hit a lot of Oregon establishments...come here and taste a large representation in one spot. | 80 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 16/20 Theydon_Bois (394) The ’Sham, England | November 24, 2012 Visited around 9.30pm on Weds 7/11/12.
Place was fairly busy with largely a younger crowd but we bagged a table ok.
Tap list was varied and interesting - my only small gripe not many high ABV beers and no DIPA’s or RIS’s on my visit. Whilst I don’t need to see the menu awash with strong beers, one each from these two styles would have been good!
Service was fine, would definately reccomend this venue.
You can check what’s on tap on their website and it shows approximately how much is left in the barrel for each beer !!!
They don’t have food here but ordered a Burrito from the Mexican opposite and they delivered it to us. It was fantastic and great vfm! | 84 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 18/20 mcberko (139) Vancouver, British Columbia | November 11, 2012 Great place with 20 great taps. Went there after a Belgian Beer Fest tapping. Very reasonable prices and good service. Crowded, but with a pleasant ambience. | 90 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 18/20 Changed (10) Ithaca, New York | August 14, 2012 Maybe I shouldn’t have gone here as one of my first Portland beer bars... I just ruined every other place that comes after it!
Sleek, modern interior with a small V-shaped bar and tables/windows surrounding that. The renowned electronic-board (seeing is believing) lists one amazing beer after another, and there are cabinets that and shelves that hold the bottles high-up on the wall. Self-service at the bar. I’d love to work here. Very attentive staff. Friendly enough for Portland service-workers. There were Magic nerds playing card-games right next to older guys dressed in business suits-- a good mix of people, becoming progressively younger as the night goes on, but never getting rowdy. Clean unisex bathrooms. 10oz pours for only $2.50 on most of the stuff, meaning you can go home having tried a handful of stuff you’ve never heard of before, without breaking the $30 mark, including tip. I’m going to make this my spot, starting again tomorrow. | 86 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 17/20 Westmeister (53) Atlanta, Georgia | August 6, 2012 So, apparently the electronic tap board is a west coast thing. Well, its the first I’ve seen of it and I thought it was awesome. Cozy little joint in downtown and convenient walking to were I was staying. Not a huge selection but extremely well thought out. Had some things that were very delicious at a reasonable price. | 94 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 19/20 zizzybalubba (71) Elizabeth City, North Carolina | May 17, 2012 Bailey’s is a cool, relatively small bar located in downtown Portland. One of the first things I noticed was there are no commercial tap handles, only generic handles with numbers. Above the taps are the 20 selections on flat screen monitors with full descriptions of each beer and an indicator as to how full each keg is. Even though the bar was quite crowded the bartenders were quick, attentive, and knowledgeable. The selection was pretty incredible to only have 20 selections. If there was food I did not try it. Prices were reasonable. Overall, this is worthy of the praise it is receiving. |
