A must stop for Tokyo. Great beer selection and knowledgeable staff. My only suggestion was to pour the beer with a little head as filling the pint glass to the brim with beer is not necessary.

The staff greets everyone who walks through the door, everyone is very friendly and has good service. The food is varied so that the beer. They have good prices and a cozy atmosphere. Visited the place twice and the first time I got a gold card member. thought it filed its own nich in the whole place and a nice memory to take home. The negative as a tourist "if you do not want to meet other tourists’ one should not visit this place. menus huh light and understanding and the staff could good English.

Well, this is an interesting place. More than half the people sitting at the bar were Japanese, I did not expect that. Bartender was very friendly and efficient, but did not speak English; that did not slow us down at all. I like the free food with certain beers during happy hour. And the selection is unbeatable. Classic place.

More tourist centred than most beer bars in Tokyo. Menus in English and the staff understands English fairly well. Food was nice with a lot of small dishes, rather cheap or in the case of Happy Hour free with the beer. The tap selection is excellent, but don’t change frequently. Not a problem when touristing, but not a place to go to every day. You can get a nice souvenir membership card. It is a nice pub with great service and a nice selection, but feels a bit too much for tourists and not genuine.

I went with my wife and mother-in-law. They have a lot of great Japanese and foreign beers on tap. It is pricey but in line with other bars in Tokyo. The best part is a taster tray that allows you to choose 8-10 beers. The food was okay but nothing special.

We visited Popey’s on 15th and 16th of February 2013. This is indeed a very unique place and everything is related to good beer. They have 70 beers on tap, half of them are from Japanese Microbreweries, which was clearly our focus. They had 2 excellent ales from the hand pump (Yo-ho Brewing: Yona Pale Ale, Tokyo Black Porter). I also liked the cask conditioned ales, my favorit was the Ale best bitter from Hinomaru. I have never had so good British ales outside of the UK. Also the 2 Weizen they had were delicious - one pale and one dark, chocolate Weizen both from Fujizakura kougen brewery. Furthermore I was delighted by the smoked beer from the same brewery (Fujizakua kougen Rauch). We finished the evening with an ale from Ska Brewing, they also have beers from Brew Dog, Mikkeller, Victory, Lost Coast, Rogues and many more.
The place is very small but has a great atmosphere, service is outstanding, decoration is great (they have a picture showing Michael Jackson when he visited this place in 2005) and on a TV wall they show either sport or beer trailers from e.g. Duvel. We were lucky to get a place, would recommend to book a table in advance. Food is good too, you get half portion of Pizza, sausages,... during Happy Hour by ordering selected beers, nice idea. Overall a place with great beers and real beer culture and a must visit during a Tokyo visit.

A must if you are visiting Tokyo, they have a tasting set which is great and a fantastic happy hour! During happy hour all beers on the menu marked with a * come with a free half-dish of food - great value. As everyone says, probably the best selection of draft beer in Japan with friendly knowledgeable staff.

This is my goto-bar whenever i happen to be in tokyo. Get here early as it fills up pretty quickly.
About 70 beers on tap and a few of them are real-ales. The selection is good but the rotation of brews is a bit so-so. They always seem to have a bunch of barleywines on draught which is a rare treat.
If you come here between 5-8pm certain beer includes a half plate of snacks which makes the prices somewhat more tolerable and almost good value.
Service is usually quite good even tho staff speaks very little english.
A must visit when in Tokyo.

Was sure to make it here for my first beer in Tokyo, as a right of passage, or something like that. I won’t bang on about how many taps and such, you know the deal by reading the reviews. I will say though that its a great introduction to Japanese beer with the majority of taps repping local, and cask too. Be sure to come by during happy hour, where they will sort you a free plate of food when ordering selected beers on the list. It makes the overall value just that little more attractive. Great service from the bartender and staff - fast and reliable. Such a fun environment to get your drink on in Tokyo.
